my xbox 360 keeps takin me to the dashboard and saying reading then open tray

my 360 makes a weird sound when ever i put a disc in the tray and tries to read it but the thing down at the bottem of the dashboard says open tray after not reading it.
it will eventually play a game or dvd after 30 minutes of opening and closing the disc tray constantly
will not play any back games (found that out with fable the lost chapters)

put brand new game in and it says open tray, i do then close it again and same thing happens over and over. can anyone help?

Well I bought gta IV and it worked fine for a while then one day when I put it in it sounded as if it was skipping and scratching itself. I opened the tray and closed it and it worked fine for about five minutes or so. Just about the time I got to the mission Three is a crowd or something like that. Then it pops up on the side. This disk is not reading and it gave me the steps to fix the problem. Well this happened about six or seven times until it just started doing the scratching bit. I went out to get the air compresser and let it fill up. I took the nossel and blew it into the system and now it works just fine. But I think this is just a temp fix. If it does it again i'm calling tech support. It reads dvds and short films just fine. and plays the music disks just great. But wont read the game. This also works as a temp fix but erases all your profiles and games that you have saved. If you don't have xbox live then this wont be a problem to you cause when you join live it does it anyways. Go to memory and press the Y button or yellow button. Then it will give you instructions and you just have 2 follow them. Make sure you have your console ID writen somewhere. If you don't know where to get this just go all the way right and go all the way down to system info. It gives you the numbers there. This works great. The problem may also be that a game you have saved corrupted itself. But since you don't know which one it is just delete all of them using the method above that I typed. But b4 you do this make sure it is a corrupted game. Just remove the HDD from the top or MU and if the game reads its the HDD or MU. to get more info just go to www.xbox.com/support

Hey there fellow xbox loons my 360 says "put this disc into a xbox 360 console" the thing is my console is a 360 and if i turn my 360 on with a game in it, it either says "play dvd or open tray" if i tap the sides sometimes it will work but i think its just pot luck because ive sat there and opened and closed my 360 about 50 times before it will read the disc? Ive spent an absolute fortune on accessories and so on and It plays dvd's and cd's fine so i dont get it. Somebody has to have an answer before my 360 goes through the window! please help me i really wanna buy gta4 but why waste my money if it aint gonna work? I have the same problem. Sounds like the disc is scratching or something, I hear two beeps, and then it says for me to insert the disc into a 360 console, or it just says unreadable.

I place the disc in my xbox 360 and it begins to read the disc, but then a white screen pops up saying I have to put the game in a xbox 360. It started doing this when i bough Call Of Duty 4. I just got an XBOX 360 console as a gift and with a few games including BIOSHOCK form 2K. I notice one or twice that my console had troubles reading some of the games, it as anoying but ussualy it got it ok at the end. Yesterday I tried to play BIOSHOCK and you won't believe what happen, the console ask me to clean the disk because it should be dirty. But what was my surprise when I saw the disk with a horrible circular scracth all over it. It's very clear that the console had a malfunction and ruin my game. I'll try contacting Microsoft support to see what solution will they offer to me.
