Question about Sigma Sport BC 1609 STS Plus Cadence Wireless Computer

Open Question

Speed and distance don't work after battery change.

I changed the battery in the front sensor after the indicator showed that the "distance" battery was low. Since I replaced the battery (I've tried two new ones) I can't get speed or distance to work. I tried pressing the button to "sync" and also holding the unit near the sensor (as suggested) but neither worked. I have successfully changed the battery for the cadence sensor in the past and it continues to function. Any ideas?

Where can I get instruction details for my POD 550 watch?

RCX5 found it surprisingly light and small. It doesn't look like a computer on your wrist like many other GPS watches. Of course that is largely because the bulk of the GPS components and battery are in an arm band.
The armband and separate GPS device seemed like, and became, one extra piece of equipment to worry about.

The watch, heart rate monitor and foot pod all use watch batteries. Battery removal can be difficult, however once the back is removed the batteries are easy to install and replace. The GPS piece is charged with a standard USB cable.
The speed and cadence sensors batteries are not replaceable. These sensors must be purchased again when they wear out
The speed and cadence sensors are attached to a bike with zip ties. I found them easier to install than the Garmin sensor largely because they are separate devices. It was easier to position each of them so that they picked up the magnet from the wheel/pedal separately, rather than trying to align one device to detect both.
Additionally the speed and cadence sensor each have a built in led light that flashes each pass of the magnet.

However, to configure your stride length is tricky at best. The best way to do it is to run a distance using the stride sensor that you know the actual distance of, then change the distance in the history. So let's say you ran 1 mile. The watch believes you ran 1.1 miles. By changing the history to 1 it should adjust the settings so that the next mile you run will record correctly.
Once you have been using the watch for some time you can get into advanced setup. You can add your own sports, or configure the devices, and screens setup with each sport.
You can do this from the watch, but it is easier to do it from the Polar Web Sync software. The software works much like a remote terminal for the watch. You connect to the watch and add or change each sport profile, or change user or device settings.

Doesn't keep a record of time and distance. shows the letter

1) If your system display has a batteries change it by new ones.

2) Adjust the sensor reed switch, see the diagram by 1/8" or 3mms.

3) Tight the flexible cord from keypanel vs Display board + then tight the connector from Display board vs Lower Board( Main Motor Controller Board)

4) Adjust the speed sensor in according with your manual, but in short must be square one size vs the other side.Touching in same way by each side.
If the problem persist the problem Probably would be the EPROM ,RAM or ROM from the display board.

Good luck, sincerely. G-d bless you.

My Hyosung Rx 125's speedometer is broken - shows my travelling speed as 0km/h, and the distance traveled also remains on the same kilometers(no distance added).

I had the same problem on my RX125. Did yours also do the thing where in the rain the speedo would show random numbers which changed rapidly?

Anyway, the RX125 doesn't have a speedo cable because it has an electronic speedometer. The sensor is on the front wheel, and is screwed into the front brake caliper. It's on the end of the thin black wire that goes down the front fork. The problem is either the sensor or the speedometer unit, but unfortunately the only way to find out which is by replacing the parts.

This is the sensor:

This is the speedometer:

Hope this helps.

Cateye double wireless stopped showing time distance speed and cadenece mid ride having worked fine for a month after initial installation. Display shows time and odometer ok, just zero for everything...

Well, it IS wireless so it need ssome good juice and line of site from the sensor to the receiver to work.

Take the unit off the handlbar mount and hold it close to the transmitter while you move the wheel magnet past the sensor.

If it starts to work begin moving the computer farther away toward your handlebar mount and figure out where it dies and why. Some units have distance specs that must be adhered to.

Speedometer does not work will not change gears

Hello dbslats.
You likely have a speed sensor that has gone open circuit. It is a common problem with these models.
There are two sensors mounted at the front of the transaxle transmission.
The diagram below shows the output speed sensor, this is the one that needs to be tested and probably replaced to fix your problem.

This is just in case you need to diagnose further.

The PCM (powertrain control module) receives a signal from the transmission control module (TCM) and the transaxle output speed sensor over the bus communication line.
The TCM supplies the road speed and distance traveled inputs to the PCM.

Thank you for using FixYa.

I have no speed or trip distance showing, cadence is normally ok. also my watch strap has broken and because it is glued on i cant get it fixed!

Since your Cadence is working then there is a problem with the actual speed/ distance sensor. First make sure that in your settings you have speed turned on. If so then...
1) Your battery may be dead = Replace CS sensor
2) The distance of the sensor and magnet is not set correctly = make sure magnet on spokes and sensor are within 1-2mm of each other.

Polar can fix the strap, you need to send into an authorized service center. They replace the entire strap unit. If you send into Polar to get the strap fixed, then you can send in the sensor unit as well for diagnosis if you want. But if #2 doesn't fix, then it's #1 and they will just tell you to buy a new one anyway.

Distance and average speed don't compute.

My solution included changing the battery in the cadence sensor (GSC10). You might not need to.
1. After changing battery, take bike outside. Turn on Edge 305 to acquire satellites (might not be necessary..)
2. Press reset button on GSC10. Should see red/green flash.
3. On Edge 305, go to SYSTEM.
4. Scroll down to ACCESSORIES.
5. On Accessory page, scroll to bottom, under Cadence Sensor, and press RESTART SCAN.
That fixed my Edge 305 - cadence and speed do appear now.
