Logitech N700 lapdesk with fan not working

I bought this tech N700 lapdesk with speakers and fan and the fan decided to stop working. I cleaned out any dust that might have been an issue, but nothing. I spent a lot of money on this lapdesk online and am wondering if there is a solution out there other than dumping it? Please help or advise.

Hi Regina Kech, I want to help you with your problem, but I need more information from you. Was the fan working and now suddenly quit or has it been dead from the start? Second (and please don't take this the wrong way) are you sure the fan switch is in the on position? I only ask because I was surprised to see that it had even such a switch and that it's in a position where it could easily be turned off accidentally.

Can't control volumn or mute button

The mute button is noting more than an on/off switch that electronically disconnects or blocks the sound signal temporarily. If both the Mute and Volume controls won't function then you have a power amp dysfunction to the speakers. Go to Tiger Direct on the internet and get a replacement system from the refurbished section at a good price.

Logitech z906 remote stopped working

Sometimes the battery terminals become pitted and don't make good contact, get a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol to make sure it is spotless. If there is no change! take it to a TV tech. to verify it is the remote, if yes he may be able to repair it.

Klipsch THX subwoofer just stopped working. Speakers still work (sound awful without the sub). Fuse looks solid. Back of sub was hot.

Heat is the clue.

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If you can gain access to the subwoofer driver, disconnect one side of it and see if the amp comes up. The driver miight have shorted.

If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

I just got my logitech N700. Every time I try to plug the usb cable into my computer, however, my computer shuts down. I tried injecting other things - my flash drive, my external hardrive, and my old fan...

Try shutting down your computer before you plug in your USB. As you may have a surge problem. Then plug in your N700, if this doesnt work You may have to goto PC world or your local PC dealer and ask them. Hope this helps.

A precise make and model might yield more-specific answer.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections as a root cause for intermittent shutdown.

I bought the speaker lapdesk N700 and it worked only for 30 days or so now the sound is all distorted. How do I go about repairing, or replacing it or getting my money back?????

how distorted is it and when did it started to sound wrong was it while u were using the speakers or was it after u just booted up your system first time of the day?

did u check your wires if everything was all secured in place?
also if u have pets and they love to take a bite on your wires ive seen this before they could do that.

if its distorted is could also mean they are busted as in someone turned the music too loud for the
capabilities of the speakers and that would make the sound distorted,

those are my theories ...but since im not there to physically check its hard to be certain on those things

good luck
