Hello, It means either the hard drive or the operating system on your laptop is bad. Will have to put recovery disk in cd drive and reload software or if doesn't work will have too replace hard drive. Yes, sounds like needs too taken too the shop.

At this point I assume you've tried to go into SAFE mode, and into BIOS with no luck. You're right about the overheating but I think the damage is done. If the unit will no longer stay on in any mode or condition then heat has ruined something. First easiest part to check is memory. The check the CPU (most laptops still have a plug in CPU). If neither of these are suspect then take everything off the motherboard, including the screen (I use and external monitor). If the problem still exists then it's time to use a scope.
