Electric Pressure washer hums but does not work.

Someone gave me a pressure washer and ask if I can get it working. Thought it was a fuse but it's not. When turned on it hums but it doesn't start. If left on then it trips the circuit breaker. Any help would be appreciated.

The motor is frozen and the humming is sign of it. The circuit breaker trips when the non spinning motor overheats and draws too much current. You could also try soaking the piston assembly with WD 40 for a few days and then attempt to loosen it

Guess is that someone started it without water...and seized the piston. You can try spraying silicon spray into the water intake (lots of it) and then see if that frees the piston. You can start it for a moment without water after spraying silicon into the intake. The alternate ( not recommented) is to open the pump housing and spraying directly into the piston to free it up.... Good luck.

What is this problem - Karcher 3.86 electric pressure washer: humming noise, plug gets very hot, then unit shuts down?

Your pressure washer is either not fitted with a run/stop device in which case like mine you have to switch off within a few seconds of closing the trigger. Check your model features?
The humming noise is the motor stalled out against the pump because there is nowhere for the water to go. The shutoff is caused by the safety overload switching off after overheat.
Or, it has a pressure operated run/stop which is not working. Because water and electricity don't mix, I would suggest getting more specific help. You can download Karcher manuals /spares lists online from Karcher specialists but remember electricity is the silent killer.

Can't get soap to feed into system

I have a SIMONIZ S2000 electric. I bought the unit about 8 weeks ago used it once. On the second use yesterday the unit didn't work as well, the pressure seemed only a bit better than hose pressure and soap did not dispense at any pressure. SO.... after much thought I turned the hose/tap pressure down so that I only got about 2-3 GPM instead of the typical 5-6GPM normally coming out of my hose....... it worked! Soap dispenses and spay is way better! It seems that if if the inlet hose pressure is high the pump doesn't work as well... go figure.

Kranzle Pressure washer...seems to be no power to the machine..checked switch and all connections all fine but no power to the machine

Could be that the fuse in the plug needs replacing.

Does the machine make any noise? Does it buzz/hum when you try to turn it on? - If yes, a starting capacitor is required.

Pressure Washer quit running

I have owned four of those units. Every one of them did what you are experiencing or just wouldn't give me any pressure after only a few uses. The company was certainly no help. I gave up after four and bought a heavier gas model from Lowes. Hope this info helps.

Karcher electric press. wash. Hums when turned on then trips bre

Dear K_mccurdy,
I am assuming that your washer is single phase. A comon reason for humming is a faulty capacitor. This must be changed by a new one.
Now one must see why the capacitor got damaged. This could happen, when the gun is closed the machine starts and goes off again in short intervals. In this case a control valve, often called the Spill Valve, needs lubrication or replacement. I prefer to replace it. Even if the pump has no faults and you have a habbit of closing and opening the gun more than necessary...the capacitor will get damaged. It is also important that if you use soap or chemicals, always rinse with fresh water before storing away the washer. Also never store the washer with pressure still built up. Always release the gun, before storing. Well in your case it must be the capacitor. If the capacitor is OK or you have changed it....try the washer without load. This can be done by removing the gun. You can leave the water supply, for this has a cooling effect during this test. Things should work fine now. If not...then the electric motor must be checked. But I repeat...the most common fault for humming is a faulty capacitor.
Regards,
Fulltech.

Losing pressure somewhere

Hi, I work in the italian factory of Karcher. In my opinion the problem is caused by the breaking of the collector. This is a black component of plastic where is inserted the detergent suction valve and the safety valve. To replace this component you have to go in a repair center Karcher.
