Question about Robinair Cool Tech 34700Z Recovery, Recycling, Recharging

Open Question

Hello, I have an Robinair model 34700z / 17700z unit. That I am having several issues with that just arose.

My question is when I am recovering Freon with this unit it continuous recovers instead of stopping and providing a readout of how much is recovered. It act's as if it is almost putting a vacuum on the system, However the number (readout) continuously goes up as if it is actually still taking freon out of the vehicle. Issue number 2. After the evac is complete this unit does not automatically switch over to recovering oil as it once did, Lastly when doing an evacuation I have noticed that it seems to be evacuating air into the oil container. And in doing so when the evac is complete it pops up a screen stating that the "leak test" has failed.. This is after being in the leak test for only a few seconds and has been replicated on multiple vehicles.. Any advice would be appreciated.

SOURCE: robinair model 34288 will not stop recovering

what is the pressure reading on your guages? if it is below 0 if so the vacuum pump should kick on. if the vacuum pump keeps turning on and off check the software version on the machine if it is not 3.09 or 3.11 the software needs updated contact your local robinair service center. if it is not the software then the recovery solenoid may be sticking closed and will need replaced.

I HAVE A 34700Z UNIT AND I WAS RECOVERING AND AFTER A BIT IT STOPPED AND SAID HIGH PRESSURE UNIT DISABLED WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM.

This is a common problem of Robinair 34700Z / 347002k & 347112k series machine.so don't worry just check the following :- 1# Verify the ISV tank is not overfilled.if full, remove some refrigerant manually from tank. 2# Purge excess air from the tank manually.( Open air purge hose from the tank, then press tank valve as needed to purge air from the tank) 3#Check the air purge solenoid & High pressure switch for proper operation.Hope this will solve your problem, Best of luck & vote for my solution

Machine will not read scale or does not weigh freon . will evacuate but will not charge says tank needs fill but will not fill either

Most robinair units require the filter to be changed every so many uses. If the filter is not been changed, the unit will not work.

It is clear to me you need to Replace the Compressor! But if you want to make sure yourself, please do the following: Press recover & fix a vacuum gauge on your machin Compressor suction port & monito the gauge is going up to13"HG suction,if not then you need to replace the compressor.
I wish this will help you to solve the the problem. if so, pls vote for it. Good luck!

You can do the following :
1# Rebuild/Replace ''charge'' solenoid.
2# Check ''recover'' solenoid is working properly. Repair as need. If recover solenoid is OK, Then you may have to replace the "Compressor".
I hope this will help you to rectify the problem. If so, please vote for solution. Best of Luck!
