The reason block YouTube in your schools was really configured or restricted by a professional Information Technology in wireless router or router so that no one can use the said website. So in order to bypass that you have to click this link ProxFree the free anonymous proxy and then scroll down or in the middle type www.youtube.com the click the proxyfree button. Have a fun!

The school internet provider would have a filter via a firewall that filters out what it deems to be in appropriate. A teacher would have teacher rights that allows them to decide what is ok to see where as a student log in would have student rights that are restricted from certain web sites. I suspect one reason for this would be the bandwidth usage. If all students could access video the school internet bandwidth would get used up and could even slow down due to the internet traffic caused by too many people accessing video at the same time. You will most likely find that the school got their internet usage bill and had a heart attack over the sudden blow out of internet usage and increased cost. Schools get a limited budget from government or parents and have to be careful how much money they spend in a year on I.T.
Another reason could be the risk of cyber bullying via you tube videos being posted of another student about a particular student and then being seen by multiple students across school computers. The school would have a duty of care to try and prevent cyber bullying and may have had an incident of cyber bullying occur and have taken action to prevent a similar incident occurring again.
I have worked in a school administering a computer network so I know how important reducing costs can be and the risk of cyber bullying or in appropriate material being accessed or emailed around a school or to another school.

You can only ask permission to your Teacher/Adviser and with the help of your IT Administrator, only then you can access YouTube. I think even in some companies, YouTube is inaccessible to prevent downtime of the workers/employees. Thanks!

You need to use VPN to unblock youtube. Unlike proxy which only works with certain applications, VPN encrypts your entire traffic so "man in the middle" doesn't know which websites you're visiting.
