Question about Hayward H250FDN Low NOx Natural Gas Pool or Spa Heater

Hayward H250FDN blue temperature control will not respond (MODE and RED up button are OK)

Hello brainy people! I have a Hayward H250FDN heater which the temperature controls are stuck and will not respond. I can see the pool temp (84deg) on the display, I can use the MODE button to flick between the pool and the spa temperature displays ok, but the BLUE temperature button is stuck at (102 Spa) (73 pool) and will not go down if I press them. (The UP button works just fine!) I purchased a new display, thinking it was the button that had been burned out as per other posts on here.. but sadly, exactly the same problem is occuring with the new one I just fitted. Is there a master reset button anywhere that may help me? Has anyone else experienced this issue? I'm now worried that when winter comes and the temperatures drop, if anyone turns the heater gas on... I'll have a 102 degree spa day and night! $$$$$$ HELP!!! Should I just order a new EMERSON circuit board? Any ideas helpful. Thank you.

You will have a small wire comming from the main box by the equiptment that will go to the pipe between the pump and the filter. It will connect to a piece in the pipe that is held in place with a stanless steel clamp. This is the heat sensor for the control and has gone bad. It is simple to replace and farley inexpensive. That should fix you up, good luck.

If the control exceeds the maximum number of ignition retries or recycles the heater will shut down and go into lockout. Automatic reset is 60 minutes.
There are a few reasons that this might be happening. They range from air in the gas line to inadequate gas flow. Start by checking the installation

Headers on hayward heaters are usually warranted for 10 years, except for freeze or chemical damage. You may want to contact a local warranty station to see if you can get it replaced under warranty.
