Question about Microsoft Computers & Internet
Whenever my laptop's windows updates after turning on the pc, all my downloaded apps disappear. All my personal pc settings are gone, and all my libraries are empty. My photos, etc are still in computer, just not in the libraries such as My Pictures. I have to re-download all the apps I had before. I have restored to a previous point before, getting everything back, but I know my pc isn't keeping the Windows Update when i do that. Can anyone help me with this problem?
I think this is happening due to two reasons
1) Your are not using Microsoft account user and have chosen a local user.
2) possible issues with windows 8 version you have - i didn't face it for 1.5 years of Windows 8 which i had.
1) Use Microsoft account - they can keep all your apps in onedrive - so this gets automatically downloaded everytime.
2) Try to update to Windows 8.1 version - which is way better than Windows 8.
Hope this helps.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: My OS Windows 7 can not Update
The problem might be becoz of service pack of windows 7. Please uninstall the currently installed service-pack and then try to update Windows 7.
Its highly advisable to clean system registery using any good system registery tool like cCleaner.

There is no mshtml.hlp file - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q190250
Try deleting IE's cache from Tools, Internet Options, click the Delete
Files button under Temporary Internet Files.
Go back to the site where you were saving the 'pics' from and try right
clicking them and choose 'Save Image As'.
