What causes the phillips tv to not power on

hi have look on power supply for bad capacitors

it possibly you have shorted power supply board or inverter board that cause of clicking sounds..

try to unplug the inverter board then try again if the indicator lit in blue you have shorted inverter board that need to be replace.

The clicking sound is the switched mode power supply trying to power up the TV. This problem is usually caused by parts called capacitors on the power supply board going bad. You can repair the board yourself by replacing the capacitors. On this model there are 4 main capacitors that will need to be replaced. Sounds like The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

usually the cause of error is defective cd lense. the best thing to do do is to replace your dvd player with a new one

Try "hiding" the remote from the set so that the TV cannot "see" it. Hope this little trick helps...accordianman

This denotes a problem called blooming the horizontal lines you see are called retrace lines this is caused by the increase in anode voltage which could be caused by an increase in HV section current which trips the overcurrent protection dircuit and turns the TV off.If you do not have electronics experience I would suggest taking the set to a TV repair shop.
