We are on our second and last machine; after this DBM 8 goes out, I am going to find the most basic grinder I can and stick with it. That said, I fixed ours by removing the clear plastic reservoir where the ground coffee ends up, and then removing the build-up of coffee grounds around the exit chute where the ground beans enter the reservoir.
So, slide the reservoir out, just as you would when emptying it in to your coffee maker and set it aside. Have a flashlight ready when you tilt the grinder forward. On the back side you will see the hole where the ground beans empty into the reservoir. Take a toothpick and get rid of all the clay-like coffee reside that has built-up around that hole. Use a can of dusting air, if possible, (the aerosol "can" type used to blow dust particles from your computer) and blow away all possible ground coffee residue in the hole and around it. This will allow the reservoir to seat snug and flush again. This process fixed ours and I don't know why for sure, other than I suspect, the clay like build-up of coffee grounds, over time prevents the reservoir from seating properly and it has to seat perfectly to work. perhaps remove the hopper (top) and inspect to see if a buildup of very fine compacted grounds as accumulated. knock the stuff loose.

Try this and let me know if it works - plug the coffeemaker in, turn the function knob to BREW, and then press all 3 buttons in the center of the coffeemaker (the 1-4 button, et, etc) and hold them for a few seconds. Let me know if the clock display comes back on.

My burr grinder also stops if the ground spout (where the coffee shoots out) is clogged. I use my grinder for an espresso machine so i always have the setting on the finest and so with the oils and the fine grind it clogs this spout pretty often. I"d check yours out too (ie remove the coffee ground bin and you can see the spout. If it is clogged uplug the machine and take a tooth pick and un clogg it. Don't jam the tooth pick in there to deep you don't want it to get shuved into the grinder wheels.
