SOURCE: stove top pilot light

I have a GE Gas Stove XL44 the stove top buners don't light by themselves without manual lighting. When I turn on the buner knob the buner doesn't click. Also I used my self- cleaning oven for the first time and stopped it before the time was up after that is when the stove top buners wouldn't light by theirselves.

If your top burners are not lighting or will not work, it is possible that the burners have become dirty or wet. Please follow the troubleshooting directions below before calling service:

  1. Turn you burner to the Lite position:

If you hear clicking or sparking, go to Step 2.

If you do not, check your circuit breakers. If the circuit breaker is ok, we recommend that you schedule service by calling 1-800-432-2737 or schedule service online.

  2. Clean the burner and electrode:

First remove the burner grate, cap, and head. Use a needle or paper clip to poke through the holes on the burner head. Re-assemble and try the burner.

Remove the burner grate, cap, and head. Even if it looks clean, wipe the tip of the electrode with a clean, dry paper towel and PRESS IT DOWN. Re-assemble and try the burner, again.

Check to see if the burner works, If not, then go to Step 3.

  3. Re-assemble - Make sure that each burner top matches its burner bottom. The burner top will lay flat if put on correctly.

Check to see if the burner works, If not, then go to Step 4.

  4. The spark igniter is operating properly, but the burner is still not lighting. At this point, we would recommend that you schedule service by calling 1-800-432-2737 or schedule service online.

SOURCE: whirlpool electric range burner power light stays on but no heat

Hello givemeanidth.
Welcome to Fixya

You said, have a Whirlpool electric range (model rf363pxpt0) with standalone burners - the burner power indicator light stays lit whether the heat control knob is on or off, there is no heat coming from the burner on or off. You pulled the burner from the receptacle and one of the tabs broke off and stayed in the receptacle. You removed the tab and made sure no pieces remained in the receptacle then bought a replacement burner, no change. You put the replacement burner in the back burner of the same size and had heat within 10 seconds. You changed out the burner with the one that had been in the back of the range, no heat. As long as the breaker to the range is on the power light stays lit but no power to that one burner only.

What is the model number and the age of your range?

Waiting for your reply.

SOURCE: Burner on new Whirlpool gass water heater will not stay lit

One of the proper ways to light a gas water heater, is to turn the black knob to Pilot, put a match to the end of the pilot light, while holding the match there, push the red reset button down and hold the match & the reset button down for one full minute. Then, release the reset button and turn the black knob to On. This should keep the pilot light on.

Viking VGIC oven burners ignite but cycle off repeatedly temperature rarely gets to 300 after 30 minutes. If igniters ignite is problem elsewhere - like bad bi-metal valve? Range and broiler work OK,

There is a sensor that detects the oven temperature, it must be defective and sending a signal that oven is at set temperature and this shuts off the gas valve.

It will sound like a waterfall, this means your system has lost its refrigerant gas due to a split pipe somewhere in the system

You've all missed the plot. The pilot is on - the burner won't ignite. That sounds like the oven thermostat is turned down, or the electricity has been turned off.

Hello
Possible you have a bad hot water control or low water cut off is going bad.Sounds like a control problem, thing is there are 3 or 4 different possibilties.

If this is stopping the gas flow then you need to have the boiler looked at by a service person.

Rinnai R53 Natural Gas Tankless Water Heaters

It sounds like the Rinnai units are working correctly but you've got some plumbing problems.  Any tankless heater has a minimum water flow required to keep the burners going.  If the burners were going with very little water flowing through them to carry the heat away, the heat exchanger could overheat and fail.  The solution is generally to the electronic controls to set the desired temperature and then just use hot water.  Once you start mixing cold water in, you actually reduce the flow of hot water and the burners turn off.  If you are right near the cut off point, the burners will cycle on and off resulting in those very annoying hot-cold-hot-cold showers.
The fact that you've got those very loud noises indicates some other sort of plumbing problem.  Hooking up two tankless units in series is much more complicated. In heavy draw situations, the second unit is asked to finish heating the water up to temperature when the first unit couldn't quite get it there. Now you're putting hot water into a heater and heating it more.  You have a lot more issues with fluctuating temperatures and pressures within the pipes which could conceivable cause these horrible noises.  Everything's got to be set up right to for things to function properly and it's easy to get something wrong.
From your description, it sounds like a better solution would have been to mount the two heaters in different places. e.g. One in the basement to serve basement and first floor faucets.  The other on the second or third floor to serve those two floors.  Since these units are direct vent (don't use inside air), they can even be mounted in a closed closet as long as the vent can get to the outside.  With this setup you avoid the complexities of a series installation and you also have a much shorter wait time (and therefore less waste) for the fixtures on the upper floors.

Dryer only heats randomly

The most common cause for your problem are the two coils on the gas valve. It is normal for the burner to cycle on and off while the clothes are drying. One of the coils is getting weak after it gets hot and not opening the valve.
Replace both of them.
You can order the set from repairclinic.com for $18.95.
If you need further help, please post the complete model and serial numbers.
Thanks/Mike
