No sound

I found mine was just making a clicking sound and no birds singing. changed batteries, all that synchronizing birds to time and nothing worked. Remove screws holding back on that are located around the ring area. carefully remove the glass, the hands, then the holding nut for the motor housing, remove face from clock assembly. There will be a wire going to the eye sensor for daylight/nighttime. Take a paperclip and jump the two solder points where the blue/black and yellow wire connect to the little circuit board (must have batteries in) and this resets the song feature. Not sure why this works, Simply reverse disassembly procedure making sure clock hands are unobstructed with each other and not bent, dont forget the seconds hand it's little and easy to forget to put back on.

Do wild birds eat out of people's hands?

1) It is quite possible to have a wild bird come and eat out of your hand. The key is to remain very calm and not make any sudden movements. Have the food (probably seeds are best) in your hand and try to make sure the bird sees you. It helps if you make eye contact with the bird and even speak softly and in a very calm manner to it. Try to let it know that you are not an enemy. Have your hand held out so he can see the food. Finally, if he comes and lands on your hand, don't become scared and pull your hand away!

What kind of seed should I put in my bird feeder?

1) Different birds like different kinds of seeds. For example, almost all birds enjoy sunflower seeds. Other popular seeds include safflower, corn, Millet, Milo, Nyjer and Suet. If you know of a certain species of bird that lives near you, you can check the chart on this website to see what seeds that bird enjoys.

I own a Canon 100 - 400 mm IS and mostlyl use it for bird photography. My problem is that the focusing of the lens is not very consistent. For example, when I was shooting a great egret somewhere between...

Which camera body do you own? It is the camera that determines where to focus and when you are in focus or not. I have 3 Canon film bodies and two digital. On all, the camera can be set to detect focus using all or a specific focus point visible in your viewfinder. Check how you have the camera set and choose ONE focus point. place this focus point on your most critical item in the image, in the case of your birds, the HEAD of the bird, press your shutter button half way to lock exposure and focus, then shift the aim to compose your image before pressing the rest of the way to make the exposure.

For birds, on my digital cameras, I choose to go into live preview mode, zoom in to 10x magnification and manually focus. This eliminates the camera not knowing what I want in focus.

try using a tripod to steady the shot, and do not forget that Canon states you should turn off the IS when the lens is used in conjunction with a tripod. From firsthand experience, I agree with this instruction, often when stable on a tripod, the IS can actually be trying to correct for its own movement and cause a degradation in image focus.

Good luck
