My garage door bucks like a bronco

After a lightning storm when I push the button the door goes 1 foot then backs up then goes another foot and does this 6-10 times before it finally just stops. The door will go down if I hold the button but as soon as I release the button it goes back up to the startv and does the bucking again. HELP!

Not a door problem. I can raise and lower the door without it hanging up when I disconnect it from the opener. I thought the same thing but that isn't the problem.

You have a door problem. The reason the door is reversing to the open position is because when it bucks the safety senses something wrong. Release the door from the opener and operate it by hand. You should find something.

If these problems started immediately after a lightning storm, the printed circuit board is probably damaged. Contact a garage door service company (check the phonebook) for diagnostic support.

If when the door reverses the main light flashes 10 times you have a problem with the door sensors. Make sure they are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not flickering. They must be pointed at one another for both lights to be on. If you cannot get the lights to come on you have a bad logic board.

Wanye dalton door opener modal 3018. goes up 1 foot and stops

Check your door springs. Usually just over the door and can be seen when the door is closed. A broken spring is the most common cause of this problem.

Door will move maybe a foot or so but goes back to original spot

You may have a fairly cheap problem that can be found by nearly any electronic tech in possession of a couple of instruments; specifically a decent multimeter and maybe a capacitance meter.
It is apparent that either some passive component or low-level transistor in the timing/sensing circuit has bit the dust.

Same problem same day

Unfortunately there isn't a reset switch but I would pull the logic board and look for burnt or missing traces on the printed circuit board. Electronics do not like lightning.

Craftsman Garage Door Opener won't work after storm

Check to see if the trolley (the part that slides back and forth on the rail and is connected to the door) is jammed against the bolt just in front of the motor unit. If so, remove the bolt and run the door until it is closed. On the side of the motor unit there is an 'up limit' control. Turn this 3 turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Be sure to replace the bolt.

Craftsman garrage door opener not operating after thunder storm

If you had an lightning storm you most likely have a bad logic board. That is not a reset button you are pressing.

Remote does not open or close garage door; inside button flashes

What has happened is that you electric eyes are blocked or have gone out. The eyes are at the garage door about a foot of the ground on both sides. There should be a red or green light on one of them. If not some thing is blocking the beam that goes across the door. It is a safety beam so kids can nt get hurt when the door is coming down. If the beam is broke the door will go back up.
