I take it from the discussion I have seen that Rangemeaster is part of the Kenmore group? We have just moved house and have a Rangemaster 110 Leisure running on LPG. The flames from all of the burners are yellow/orange (carburising) and leave a sooty deposit on the pans. It appears that each burner is the same, does this mean it has the wrong jets or is there an air register that requires adjusting to get the fuel/air mix right

I purchased a fridgadaire gas range a few years ago when the house was being built. The house is equiped with propane I bought a cnverter kit and changed the top jets on the stove and reversed the port as required per the instructions. The top burners work fine the oven igniter heats up but does not ignite or gas is flowing. Whhat is the problem?

OK Done, ita all the way down. The flames are still the same. I turned it clock ways as if I was putting in a bolt with righ hand threads.

You need to turn the orifice on the safety valve down (clockwise) and this will make the flame smaller. The orifice is what the burner for the oven sits on at the bottom. The valve is # 214 on this diagram. Hope this helps.

New kenmore gas range 790.7433 converted to lp and oven flames are way too high and produce lots of fix?

Do the rangetop burners act OK, Brenda? It's just the oven that's causing a problem?

Go back to the oven burner, right where you installed the new orifice. That orifice should fit inside an air mixture tube, probably stainless steel, leading to the burner itself. Right where the orifice fits into it will be some means of adjusting the air mixture - a sliding window of some sort, whether flat or round. You'll need to loosen the screw holding it in place (DO NOT remove the screw, only loosen it) and turn it so the air opening is larger. Right now you're getting too "rich" a mixture, too much propane & not enough air. Before you close it all up, try the oven again - see if your adjustment worked correctly. If not, adjust it again - this is a trial-and-error process, and it's different for every different altitude and climate.

At some setting, you'll get a nice blue flame with very little orange in it. If you live in a very high humidity area, you'll have much more orange color than people who live where it's very dry, but the flame should at least be MOSTLY blue, and should never be sooty.

Changed maxitrol regulator to lp to much pressure

If you only changed the gas regulator for use with LP (the regulator located at the connection of the gas service) then you still need to change the orifices for all burners, top and oven. Of course I assume this model can be converted for use with LP. Some models cannot. A new range that can be converted for LP typically includes the needed LP orifices. A card with the LP orifices is typically located at the gas regulator.

I have a Sears Kenmore Elite 790 hooked up to propane .. is it ok to have it hooked up to propane or is this over for natural gas only?

Kenmore Gas ranges can be used with Natural gas or Lp. They come from the factory set up for Natural gas so if you want to use Lp it needs to be converted by you or your gas company. There are several adjustments that have to be made and some ranges require orifices to be changed. Your installation manual tells how to convert it but if you're not sure about doing it you would be better off the call the gas man.

some ranges are adjusted on the unit, others you need to go to an appliance parts store and get them to order you a convervsion kit from ng to lp. the model you have given is incomplete i would need the rest to check this further for you. there should be a prefix ahead of the 468130 i.e. 110 - 468130??

Nervous about over tightening ... how tight before causing damage

You should contact the supplier of your oven as there may be a gas pressure reduction valve for the oven that requires adjusting. It needs to be done with a gas momoneter so not really any thing you should attempt your self.

Need to change kenmore from Lp to Ng

Without a device to measure the pressure from the orifice you will have to adjust for the best flame on the burners (blue with no yellow) not going beyond the spreader plate.

Kenmore Gas Range Oven not Working Properly

greg, sounds like your needle valve is not seated. Remove the bottom drawer. Look back to the base of the burner where the shutter air adjustment is. Right under there is the valve which should have a 1/2 inch or 7/16 nut. (I Forgot what size). Turn this nut clockwise until the flame is adjusted to the correct size, should be a nice blue flame. The nut maybe hard to turn because you are seating the needle. back
