Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

Remove all the action-replay enabled cheats and try again. If this doesn't solve the problem, the game has been corrupted, although this is highly unlikely because action replay should not be able to do this. If your son still wants to use cheats, have him use one cheat at a time and gradually add more to find out where the limit is where the game breaks.

First you need to purchase an Action Replay, there aren't any built in cheats on Pokemon Platinum. They are running at $20.00 atm, and can be purchased at all big retail that sell electronics (Best Buy, Walmart, Circuit City, and Target just to name a few). They came out before Pokemon Platinum came out so when your buying it check the device, it will tell you if it includes the game cheats for Pokemon Platinum, if it doesn't you have to install the software that comes with it and upgrade it by connecting it to your computer with the supplied cable. Best of luck, if you have any problems, feel free to leave a comment and I'll get back to it when I can.
