SOURCE: switch broken

May not be identical but an appliance store or hardware store should be able to assist you with that. Home depot or Lowes as well. Take old one with you if you can.

SOURCE: are replacement motors available for these fans?

mcdevito75 here, If the fan is not too old I would figure yes, but a replacement motor will cost as a new fan, if not more, then you have to install and the blades are a presss fit to the motor.

I did the drill think once. but today when trying to repair an old Lakewood 7101, I removed the two screws holding the front cover in place (top and bottom). the cover slides down and out. and underneath I see a large plug that can be unscrewed to drain or fill the heater!

The bottom switch is bad. Unplug bottom wires and touch them together, if heat and fan comes on your switch is bad.

My lakewood HV18 just stopped. Spinning the shaft

I think you need to buy a new fan. Unless this thing cost several hundred dollars it isn't worth rewinding and a capacitor isn't likely to cause it to stop working, the cap is for STARTING it spinning anyway and sometimes they are used to HELP it run better, but it will try to run if you spin it and since your's does nothing, more than likely the windings are gone.

Need to replace the switch that has ,hi,low, med off on nit? please Help

you have 3 control wires (the 3 speeds) and a common wire. the common wire will go directly from the fan motor to the power source/cord and the other 3 leads will run through the switch. you could even use a standard dimmer-style lighting rheostat and connect it to the common and "high" fan speed wire and have infinitely variable fan speeds. hope that helps.

Cleaned a fan, now it's broken!!!

Is this the speed switch itself? These multi-speed fans have 4 or 5 wires which come from the motor which go into the speed select switch. The wiring may have the ends stripped, and this stripped end just pushes into the hole on the switch, and a little metal piece grips that stripped end.

Anyway, one possibility is to contact the manufacturer- look on their website or give them a call, see if a tech can give that info. Another poss. is to locate an identical fan and note the wiring locations on it. You can also experiment trial and error, though caution needs to be exercised here.
