Question about Computers & Internet
Well, that sounds like everyone's favorite nightmare, the broken power plug. There are many online laptop repair services, and you should be able to locate an electronics repair in your city with a brief search as well. Depending on the age of the laptop, it may be as financially viable to upgrade/replace as to repair, and any competent tech will be able to help you remove your existing hard drive and transfer all your data to the new one. Best Luck!

SOURCE: no charge on laptop
I agree. Batteries have a limited life. Also--once you have a new battery installed, be sure you let it discharge all the way (until the computer tells you it has to be charged--about 3% remaining) at least once a month. This will ensure you get the maximum life out of a battery.

You might be able to replace the jack easily enough. I am not sure what model you have, but some Compaq laptops have modular jacks, meaning they can be replaced instead of having to be repaired or having to replace the entire motherboard. I would recommend you do this or have someone qualified to do this beucase if you leave it as-is then you might burn something out on your Motherboard.

If I'm understanding you correctly, the wiggle is from the laptop. Sounds like a problem is about to happen. Your Presario has a loose power jack (connector inside the laptop). It is a part that can be replaced.
If you need further info, let us know.
Hope this helps.

Testimonial: "Thanks, is this something that is covered by my waranty?"
Sounds to me like the transformer circuit that enables the batery to charge. If you have bought your machine within the last 12 months it should still be covered by warranty so go back to the supplier. If not covered I wouod still try as it is not beyond reasonable expecations that the machine will operate perfectly in very way for more than 1 year.

Great story, but I feel your pain. There are so many times people think that just because they bought it new it works. Not true at all.
