Flooding xj900


Hi I had the same problem after rebuilding my CB900 carbies a few years back.

The floats hang down so far in the carb that they actually get stuck down even when the fuel flows in after a rebuild.

Turn the fuel on and tap the bowls with the handle of a screw driver (plastic) I used a long shaft screw driver that way you can pretty much get all of them from one side.

This light tapping jults the floats and it allows them to pop up with the pressure of the full bowls if helps with them moving.

You must have the pressure switch and some form of a Tee fitting. The Tee fitting shown is made especially for pressure tanks. It has the 3/8" side threads to properly connect the pressure switch, pressure guage, 1/2 or 3/4 thread for silcock and over pressure relief valve, and typically 3/4 or 1" inlet and outlet (where the ball valve is). I also recommend a union on either side so you can remove the tank without having to cut lines in the future. The order doesn't matter. Water will come up from the pump, building pressure in the tank (it has an air bladder inside), until the pressure switch cuts power.

Will not compress air


If while running the air pressure in the tank comes up (watch the tank pressure guage) but then leaks out after the pressure switch turns the motor off, you need to check/replace the tank check valve. If the motor runs and runs and the tank pressure never comes up or gets over 30 to 40 psi you need to check: cold start valve if it has one; piston/ring/cylinder condition; valve plate reeds. Any of these will contribut to you not getting enough pressure in the tank for the pressure switch to turn the motor off.

I have a Makita MAC5200 and the guage is showing 120PSI , tank has pressure, yet I can't get any air from valves. Any suggestions would be appreciated.


Plunger inside the regulator could be stuck or adjustment knob stripped. Let the air out of the tank and take the regulator apart, lube with light grease (no kit available for this reg.). The factory part is expensive so replace (if needed) with generic, careful with size however because there is not much room under the panel and between the gauges . Easy temporary fix. Remove the safety pop valve and install a tee (or check under the pressure switch for spare port) re- install pop valve on the tee fitting. On the second port of tee fitting install a quick connect valve for full pressure. Generic regulator is sold at Lowes that can be installed on the temporary port.

I have the 16 inch Husqvarna. Think its the 137. It will crank and then stop and when i pull the plug out it is bad flooded with fuel. Its like the fuel tank is building up pressure and flooding it. Does...


There tank vent is in the top of the fuel tank, you would have to remove the tank to get to it, it is a small plug and a duck bill valve, as this system only allows air into the tank and not out, there will always be a pressure in the tank, if the carb is flooding it is due to the rubber tipped needle under the metering diaphram leaking, not an issue with the breather, you realy need a small bulb pressure tester to test the needle seating, apply 2/3 psi into the fuel inlet conection on the carb, the needle should hold this with no like on the tester dial, if you do not have a tester all you can do is replace the needle and hope you have cured it, do remember that when re fitting the diaphram and gasget back on the carb, the gasket must go on first, and the diaphram last, it acts as a spacer, if you fit the other way round it will flodd because the diaphram is too close to the needle, the metering lever should be set level with the sides of the carb.

Leeking water from bottom

Also run hand over tank to find warm spot that says where leak is coming from
A rusted tank cannot be repaired.

If your tank is rusted out, it might burst open and flood the area.
Hot water inside tank is under pressure.
Turn off heat source to water heater.
Turn off water valve located above tank.
Open tub faucet on hot side and relieve pressure from tank.

You can limp along with a leaking water heater by turning it on when hot water is needed.
For example a shower uses 5-9 gallons hot water.
Turn gas water heater on for 15-20 minutes.
Turn electric on for 20-30 minutes.

This si the second time I have had a problem when I changed tanks. It started working the first time but not this time. The tank valve is open and the pressure guage is in the green, until you tirn on...


Many newer grills have a safety feature built in where the valve will not
allow gas to flow if the burner valve is in ON position when the valve on
the tank is opened.

Try this - Shut of all valves, disconnect and then re-connect hose to tank,
turn on valve above LP tank, THEN turn on burner valve, light w/ spark or
match...

This feature can be really frustrating if you don't know it is in
operation...

Compressor stops then leaks down to low setting


That little copper line is an unloading line, to bleed compressed air out of the compressor head so that the motor can more easily start the compressor. Pressor switch should be threadded into top of air tank, and the unloading valve is built into the side of the switch. When the tank reaches the high pressure setting the switch disconnects power to the motor and opens the unloading valve at the same time. The unloading valve should be connected to the compressor discharge line through a check valve with an unloading valve port upstream of the check valve. These valves are usually threaded into the top of the air tank as well. Sounds to me like your valve was leaking and someone bypassed it.

28 gallon compressor....answer to your question about my problem


your regulator internal filter could well be blocked ,isuggest that you drain the tank fully and remove you regulator,check that tank is clear of rust or scale if all is clear then strip and clean your regulator
assembly or replace with new,problem should be gone all the best
this might be a silly question but the needle on your pressure guage couldnt be stuck?,have you drained your reciever?
