My mitutoyo 505-675 dial caliper is resting at 3:00 rather than 12:00. How can I adjust? It is a newer model.

The answers above by Kerry Littleton have nothing to do with our calipers. The answer above by Bob Pulver is well-intentioned but doesn't address the real issue.

The real issue is the ORIGIN button is little-used and a bit reluctant to "make". The solution is to use a blunt plastic probe to REALLY PUSH down the button and hold it. The caliper will reset to zero.

The face on my dial calipers is turned 90 degrees to match up to 0. How do I adjust it to be correct and readabel?

There should be a small set screw you can loosen by hand and adjust the face of the dial to zero with the jaws closed....this is typical of most calipers...it allows you to zero the dial on a given thickness of material and only read variations based on that thickness.
Take care.

How do you rezero a 505-637 mitutoyo dial caliper

Fully close the caliper. The pointer should be pointing about straight up or close to it. Losen the knurled screw which is located on the circumference near the bottom. Now grab the dial and turn until the zero lines up with the needle. Re-tighten the knurled screw.

RESETTING THE SPRING LOAD IN CALIPERS

Slide-wear adjuster screws are located on top of the movable readout head. They are quite tiny and require VERY little adjustment. May take several attempts to get the "feel" of drag that you like, but repeatability can be "dead-nuts" when adjusted correctly.

Hope this helps,
Dolf-

Adjusting the angle of the contact point on a Mitutoyo 513-402

By simply pushing it (the contact point), it may be stiff to start but should ease up over time. Remember if your doing precision work (0.001mm or seconds of a degree) changing this original position will affect your reading so refer to booklet within original packaging or visit mitutoyo website's (Japan, USA, UK) between them they have most instructions available it's just a question of finding it, Good Luck.
