Question about HP Pavilion tx1000z Notebook
My hp pavilion tx1000 touch screen stopped working without any error message or any dysfuntionality in other parts of the tablet pc. however, my hp photosmart c4280 all-in-one printer connected to the laptop refused to scan but can print and copy. The tablet pc is running on vista and AMD Turion 64x2 processor.
Can somebody help. I have uninstall and re-install the printer software many times to no avail.
I have the solution to the touch screen problem. You need to get the support and strip down document for yout touch screen from HP.. for instance the one for the tx1000 series is c00853874.pdf
you will need another machine or to print the pages required to strip your machine all the way down to removing the monitor, and the surround on the screen.
the document is step by step...label the screw etc, you'll be fine...even if you have never done it before.
the result is the terrible build quality of the machines. the ribbon access cables for the webcam, and for the touch screen are poorly installed.
I found that my touchs screen access cable was not actually properly installed at all, and was only barely contacting when i received the machine.
my touch screen is working properly, you need to be gently with everything, the circuit board that the webcam and the touch screen connect to is directly behind the screen..
you must strip the screen down, and then lift the glass... there are 4 screws around the edges of the glass when you have it stripped down... once you lift the screen up.. there is a circuit board on the rear of the top of the plastic screen back. the are connectors going into this...for the quick access buttons around the screen edges...the webcam,.. and the touchscreen.
i have to say i just discussed this with a guy called GINO on Hp online support...and he doesnt care that this is the solution...or that there has been a manufacturing fault since day on.. they never plugged the cables in properly.

Saniya: Meanwhile, try the below steps
Saniya: Select Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Tablet PC Settings > General tab.
Click Calibrate .
Follow the instructions on the screen.
Be sure to calibrate the touch screen for use in all 4 screen orientations

I had this problem before. Same HP tx1000, same C4280 all-in-one.
Same problem. After a long conversation with tech support on Christmas day, he lead me to a list of Services, including something called "Tablet PC Services." You disable that when you want the scanner to work.
But... uh... I can't remember how to get to that list... I'm just saying that it's a Driver conflict, not a huge error. Rolling back your computer, reinstalling the drivers, or any of that stuff probably won't work.

Try disabling the tablet pc services to uninstall the c4280 incert the software cd then open my computer then right click open the drive the cd is under normally called aio_cdb, rub_americaseuro1 or could be ps_aio then once the cd contents is displayed go to the util folder then the ccc l3 uninstall but never do a l4

There a wire loose. unplug your computer. remove the battery. where the battery is there's a small panel held in with 1 screw. open it and you'll see a manila plastic plug with wires that is out. beware!!! sometimes if you plug it in you'll find the wire is too short so when you close the monitor lid down it'll come unpluged again. if thats the case you need to send it back.

Well my first thought is to try a system restore, that is if the problem just started, the longer you wait to do a system restore,chances are it would not fix the problem, older files and restore points automatically get erased as they are replaced with the newer ones, if you can't get the computer running right with reinsatlling the drivers then you will have to format c: and reinstall windows ( or use the system disks that came with the computer, you might want to remove data that you don't want to loose before you reinstall....
