The problem with Dysons is that the belt breaks and sits in position.
If you can turn the brush by hand, with little or no resistance then I would say the belts broken.
If in doubt take the cover off and look.

No suction at all

No suction means there is a clog or restriction somewhere or the filters need replaced.

Its not turning brushes all the time & it has very little to no suction on floor or hand tool modes

HI, it's Jim from Crucial Vacuum!

If your vacuum is experiencing difficulties with suction there are several places you can check to help your vacuum operate at its peak performance. After applying these solutions you should see an improvement in your vacuums suction and the maneuverability of the brush roll.

Lets check out your brush roll first since that's experiencing issues with turning. Look for any noticeable debris, and be sure to manually rotate the brush roll to unearth any hidden clogs that may be behind your brush roll. If you see carpet fibers, or strands of hair remove these with a razor, or scissor.

How do the bristles look on the brush roll? If they're loose, or look worn down then it may be time to replace the brush entirely.

Is the belt intact? After usage the belt will stretch out and lessen the tension on the brush roll. This could be causing the brush roll to have a lack of resistance against it. You want to be sure the belt is on there nice and tight. If your brush roll isn't operating properly it won't be able to pick up dirt and debris.

Be sure to empty your unit's dust cup. Allowing for fine dust and debris to rest in your unit's dust cup for a long period may cause your unit to become clogged, which leads to poor or even no suction for your vacuum.

If you're also getting little to no suction from your vacuums hose and attachments then check your vacuums hose for a clog. Stretch it out as far as you can to unblock any clogs. If there is a clog in a hard to reach spot try using a broom handle to reach the area.

It is recommended to wash and clean your unit's filter weekly. To do so, empty your filter screen outdoors to take off any excess debris and then clean under running water until the water comes out clean. Allow the filter screen to fully dry before inserting it back into the unit. This may take up to several hours.

I vacuum seems not to have any suction; for a while the attachment had suction; now it does not.

If you have checked for the obvious clogs and obstructions, be sure the belt is working properly and if necessary, attach a new belt to the unit. At the same time, clean the beater brush and lubricate the ends between the brush and the hard rubber holders.
I would also check the hose for any potential leakage.

On the DC14 the brush bar is not spinning. The belt is still attached and there is suction. Any ideas ?

Even though the belt is intact it can still be stretched and worn and that would cause the brush to not turn. Here is the belt you need:

I have a wind tunnel vacuun and the roller will not turn

There is only one motor which turns the turbine and brush. Therefore, if the suction from the turbine works check the belt by removing the bottom plate of the vacuum and look for the belt attached to the brush roller or if only a piece of the broken belt is inside the unit. If the belt is attached and intact look for a mechanical switch to turn on and off the brush and make sure it is not on bare floor or off. Look on one of the edges of the brush assembly for the clutch which is attached to the mechanical brush switch with a rod. The clutch will close and open when you move the mechanical switch. If you cannot turn the brush unit by hand you may need to remove some objects such as string or hair from wrapped around the clutch or brush.

Without known the type or model of the vacuum you can only check a few generic design futures.

NO SUCTION ON FLOOR

Dear Thyagie, since you said the cleaning tool attachment is working,I guess that means the cleaning tool attachment still has suction" so theirs a good chance that there is a clog that needs to be cleared and you wont need a new vacuum at this time.

But you will need to try and trace the clog and clear it. I would start with the tube by the roller brush and work my way up from there !
Also check the roller brush and the belt and make sure it's working properly. If your vacuum has a filter make sure it is clean, and of course make sure the vacuum bag is not full.

I hope this helps,EarlsOK
