Question about Singer Featherweight 140Q

1 Answer

I have q 410Q and I broke a needle while sewing.

I have a 140Q Singer Featherweight and I broke a needle while sewing. It now goes a little bit forward and then stops and a little bit backwards and stops. Do you think it's out of timing? If so can I fix it? Thanks.

Check to make sure that your needle is all the way up in the needle clamp, and the flat part of the needle is towards the back of the machine, if your bobbin loads in the front, either vertically or horizontally.

If the top thread is still not catching the bobbin thread, your timing is off and needs to be adjusted. ANY sewing machine technician can do that for you; it does not have to be a Singer technician. If you cannot find one, or they don't work on Singer machines, I understand Sears will repair any model of sewing machine. I don't work for them, and they don't know me, by the way.

Try a new needle, remember needle flat side faces the rear of the machine and double check your threading.

Singer featherweight bobbin won't pick up needle thread

pull the bobbin case out by pulling tab or flapper forward (outward toward you) and take bobbin out of bobbin case, If bobbin has thread and that it is coming off bobbin free and is not hung up on bobbin case.
let me know if this helps you,
