If it allows telnet sessions, you would go to a command prompt and type:
telnet 192.168.1.2 (or whatever the IP address of the switch is.)

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

yes, you should be able to connect to the console port using a roll-over cable RJ45-DB9, connect using hyper terminal or similar using the com port settings 9600,8,N,1
You can then configure the switch from the CLI...

Have you set the 'Login' command on the VTY lines in the switch setup and an IP address on the management VLAN to connect to.
You also HAVE to have a password enabled on the vty lines in order to connect via telnet.

hope this helps.

Sun V60 box cannot be accessed remotely. os is Linux

What method are you using to try to access it? If you are trying to use SSH or Telnet, you will need an SSH or Telnet daemon running on the server. If you are trying to access it from a computer that is not on the same subnet, you will need to forward the Telnet or SSH ports through your router.

Are you getting any failure msgs? Where are you telnetting from? Has your router been restarted? If you have web access turned on the router, you might be able to login via your browser, or you could directly connect to your router via a console cable to check your configuration.

Not able to telnet to my home router (netgear WGR614V9)

You have to have telnet access enabled for all earlier revisions of wgr614. See : http://www.seattlewireless.net/index.cgi/NetgearWGR614#UnlockingtheTelnetCosole but bear in mind that v9 is not known officially to have a telnet CLI.

Connection problem using telnet and web...

Not a definite solution but there are two things you can try.

Firstly, disconnect all cables and power supply to the router and leave it switched off for a minimum of 10 - 15 mins.

Reconnect everything and wait until all the lights on the router stop flashing.
Finally, go to the wireless icon on the toolbar, rick click and select "repair". This will reset the wireless adaptor.

Good luck.

Troubleshooting

Telnet is an application layer protocol. If you can telnet to the other router, then you do not have any network issues. However, the fact that you can telnet but not ping suggests that icmp messages have been blocked in the configuration of one or both routers. This is a security feature, because attacks can be launched via icmp messages.

On the controlled pc you must open administrative tools - services and make sure telnet service is started and set to automatic.
On the controlling machine, open a dos window and type "telnet computer-name" or "telnet ip-address" when prompted enter username and password that is valid on controlled pc, at that point you can run many dos command line commands and programs. Make sure that controlled pc has passwords for all accounts, otherwise you open a big security hole.
