On my standard motorguide trolling motor the direction indicator points one way my motor goes the opposite direction. How do I fix this?

put the motor in the water and ensure that the propeller is at the rear. On the head of the unit (where the direction indicator is) push down and turn the round plastic plate (this plate has the direction indicator on it) clockwise until the direction indicator mark (mine is blue and is about one inch long) is in line with the alignment bar on the non-moveable part on the head. You will hear several "clicks" and this means that the indicator plate is clicking around to the proper directional alignment with the motor in the water.

Motorguide energy 38 gets water inside. How many seals are there and where on the motor are they located?

There are 6 seals in total...2 in the housing right behind the prop where the armature goes through, 2 seals on the long thru bolts, and 2 seals that are about 3 1/2" around that seal the body. The Part number is 6220 and can be ordered here:
and here's a schematic:
Energy 39 hand control same motor as et38 and bow mount as well.
