no - where is it?

some washers have a large cement block bolted into them as a counterweight to control the machine from banging the tub drum in high-speed spin; sounds like the block has broken; sometimes these fragments of cement dust get into the machine check the block counterweight inside the washer to confirm

But that cement block does not go inside of the drain pump.

### How many yards in a ton?

As a rule of thumb, you can multiply the cubic yards by a factor of 1.4 to get tons. But remember, yards is a measure of volume where tons is a measure of weight. Thus, depending upon the material being calculated, true weight can vary greatly. Obviously a yard of wet sand will weigh far more than a yard of dry sand, as water is more dense and has more weight than the sand it displaces in the volume. Large crush stone may weigh far less than pea gravel for the same volume as there is less air gap around the gravel than there is around the large crush. If you need a true weight of a yard of some material, you would have to know its weight in a particular volume and then calculate from that value.

This is a simple repair. The main spring may have come loose from the top (need to check the top two springs ny removing top panel. The reaslon it bangs is from the dampeners being broke. Take off the bottom panel and look inside left and right at the bottom to see if the dampeners are broke. Fairly easy repair - takes some muscle. John<!-- from fixya rte -->

### MY SON LOADED A LARGE AMOUNT OF CLOTH INTO THE WASHER AND WHEN THE SPIN CYCLE CAME ON THE WASHER STARTED MAKING A HORRIBLE BANGING NOISE. it does not look like the springs are broken but the washer seems...

I'm suprised the unit was not able to spread a large load around to balance the drum. Maybe some item bunched up and made one side heavy. For a front loader, a proper load is just about all you can cram in there dry. You'll notice when the clothes get wet, they take less space, and when they are spun, there should be lots of room in the middle.

### My ge front loader is making a banging noise while in spin cycle

When I was researching which washer to buy I read that this one is not the best choice to have on a second floor. Ours is on the main floor and can still be a little loud in the spin cycle. Have you balanced the machine properly? Otherwise, I think I read that people have had success putting a thick, dense rubber mat (like a stall mat for horses) under the washer to minimize the sound/wobbling. Good luck!
