Changing the motor is not as difficult as you may think. From the roof, remove the outer shroud of the unit.

1. Remove the front evaporator cover (phillips screws along the edge).
2. Remove the condenser cover from the rear
3. With a 1/8" Allen Wrench, remove the condenser fan. CAUTION, be sure to pay particular attention to the way the fan turns.
4. With the same wrench, remove the blower fan. Again, pay attention to the orientation of the fan.
***If the fans are "stuck" to the shaft, it may be easier to remove the entire unit and place it on a bench to remove them. Secure the fan with a couple of blocks of wood and tap the end of the shaft with a punch and hammer.
5. Remove the nuts holding the fan motor to the separator plate (may have to pull back black foam pad to access. Remove the nut holding the fan to the support.
6. Cut the wires to the motor at the electrical connectors (located inside access panel on side of unit).
7. Remove the two brown wires from the capacitor
8. Re-install the new unit opposite of removal. Pay attention to where the fans were located on the shafts so that they do not rub when you put the unit back together.

Hope this helps,

No air flow in duck work

I really need more information, but let me give you a couple of things to think about, after the unit has been off for a period of time, when you first turn it on, does it blow air out of the ducts? And as it runs the air stops?
Simplist problem would be the evaporater coil in the unit is icing up, and not allowing air to flow thru it.
This can be caused by the coil being dirty and needs cleaning, or the blower motor is burnt out, this would make it so there is no air flow at the start-up and there will be no air at all.
The motor could be ok, but a wire loose, or a verity of issues.
With the information, this is about the best I can do.
Wish you the best.

RV ac fan runs backwards (blows out air on top of RV.) Runs correctly sometimes but after it satisfies and clicks off when it kicks back on, it runs backwards. The only thing that will turn it back around...

Hi, this is strange as I have never heard of this either!!! The capacitor is located by the motor and sometimes clamped to the motor. They can be the shape of a very small can, oval 3" tall with 2 leads on top with wires coming off the terminals. It could be chrome in color, or made of hard plastic. It may have 3 terminals on top, with several spade connectors on it.When you find it, mark all wires and draw a picture or you will not remember how it hooked up.Try and get the same one. Keep me posted and I can help if you need more. Strange thing going on here??

Ac unit is cold but reversed air flow wnit will

If this is a double shaft motor, meaning, there is a shaft on both ends, you have your motor turned around (end for end). You need to take the motor and turn it around, the shaft that goes to the blower needs to go to the fan and vice versa.

The dometic a/c's on my RV are not working. I have had in to a dealer many times. they have to take the covers off and put silicon on the shafts, bu doing that one works for a few days and the other one...

If they are putting silicon on the motor shafts or bearings and the motors start working, then the bearings in the motors are dry or bad and the motors need to be replaced. The silicon will lubricate the bearings for a little while and that's why they will work for a while.
