There are several reasons why a Hotpoint door could be jammed shut. One of them is the part you describe which is called the ******. With some older Hotpoint models, there is a cable that runs from the door interlock to the motor. When you operate the door catch or button, this part "pecks" down onto the drive belt or the end of the armature's shaft. If the drum is moving, the ****** will slip on the rotating belt or armature and disengage the door interlock. If the drum is not moving, the ****** meets resistance and the door opens. Code f03 means wash thermistor open circuit, this is normally part of the heating circuit, suggest you test heater and thermistos located in the end of the heater, and replace if necesscary. If heater o/k , then could be bad connection to control module, or broken wire, if still no joy, then call Hotpoint.

Error code F08 is indicating that the heater relay cannot be activated.
Check all connections on pressure switch----module---- and heater.element.
Hope this helps, this is the recommended procedure.

Error code F05 indicates pressure switch jammed on full.
Remove lower rear panel of washer.
Remove large black hose on bottom of drum.
Remove and clean filter inside hose.
Remove hose onto pump, and check for blockage or obstruction here as well.
Make sure there is no water in drum before you start.
