This is some kind of generic ceiling fan that used some kind of remote. Finding a replacement remote will be difficult to impossible. A more practical approach would be to replace the fan.

SOURCE: Ceiling fan does not reverse with remote

Just reporting that I called Hampton Bay about the remote not working to reverse the fan. I was told that I needed to have the fan running on low and then press reverse on the remote control. If that doesn't work, customer service told me to press reverse while running the fan on medium. (Some fans are set to reverse on low and others on medium.) Nowhere in the manual is this addressed. I had been pressing reverse with the fan turned off, which seemed to me a logical thing to do. Live and learn.

SOURCE: How do you set the switch for 3 adjacent ceiling fans

Each remote/fan unit has to be set to a different code otherwise you will always have this problem. Open up one of the remotes and you will see the area where the numbers can be selected, usually one thru five. Then remove the cover on the fan at the ceiling and you will see the same set up. Just go from unit to unit and do not use the same code on any two fan/remote sets and your problem is solved.

Our remote to the fan is not working

Try changing the batteries int he remote.

If anyone opened the battery box for the remote recently, the "DIP" switches may have been moved. These switches make the communication between fan and remote match - (in case you have several fans in the house, you only want one remote controlling one fan). You will have to pull the besel off of the fan (where the pole comes to the ceiling). You should be able to see a set of 4, 6 or 8 little slider switches on a small electric board. Make sure the switches are set the same on both the fan and remote. If they are set differently, they will not communicate.

If that doesn't work, there are many options of what can be wrong (bad remote, bad radio receiver on the fan, interference from other radios, ...).

Good luck,

-Mark

I moved into a house with 2 hunter ceiling fans with remote control. Both are set to the same frequency. Where is the transmitter located on the fan to change remote frequency setting?

Typically it is directly under the very top cover. it is slide under the hanger on the ceiling. Just remove the 4 screws and drop the cover and it should be there.

I need a diagram for the wiring that goes from the fan to remote speed settings and then to electrical wires in ceiling

all of the white wires connect together and to the white house wiring (neutral from ceiling) ..also the neutral or return wire for the controller (may also be white) .. then the black house wiring(or red if you have an external wall switch) is connected to the controller wire marked AC or AC input .. the output marked "lamp" on the controller connects to the blue wire that goes to the light bulb (or bulbs) ... the output called fan goes to the black wire of the fan motor .. the green house wire goes to either a bare wire, green wire or a green bolt that is screwed to the metal of the fan.. thats the safety ground ...

I have a Hampton Bay Fan: Model# 104-478 Vendor# 445993 Can use a plastic UL rated ceiling outlet box for this fan?

You can use a plastic box provided it's listed for fan support. That is, the box can't provide the sole means of supporting the weight of the fan. There are a variety of suitable fan boxes and braces in both plastic and metal available, as well as information on properly installing a ceiling fan, at the big home improvement places. There are also many how-to sites with instructions and video on installing a fan so it meets the latest NEC requirements.

Hampton Bay ceiling fan - will not reverse

It sounds like the direction switch has a broken connection on the "reverse" side.  Should be an easy fix (but you might need a soldering iron).
