SOURCE: Hey, the clean channel on my Marshall 250dfx Combo

The switching is done electronically by an analog gate chip. On IC9, check if the signal on pin 8 changes with switching between clean and OD... This is the actual signal that changes the gate. If you don't see a change there of say 5 volts, then the problem is in the circuits that drive this gate. If the signal is there, then the problem is in the clean channel audio op amps or the components around them. Let me know the results of the test.

Your amps will be fine at 50Hz.... just make sure to use a transformer type and not one of those appliance types for hair dryer... the transformer type are heavy.

Here is example: http://www.voltage-converter-transformers.com/step-up-down-transformer.html#vt1000-stepup/downtransformers

What would cause my Marshall Mode 4 amp to not change channels?

That can be caused by a faulty switch contact. I presume channels can be selected manually.

When I plug my P803 2 Way footswitch into my Haze40 amp the effects light flashes and the footswitch will not change channels or effects.

The P803 is designed to work with the "Valvestate" and Tube amps. I don't think it is compatible with the Haze40 since they have an optional 4 button footswitch so the optional one would necessitate different interface than the P803.

Distorted speaker sound - only 18 months old not played at volume - is it likely to be the speaker or electronic ? Is this a common fault - will it happen again making this amp unreliable ? Not as...

this is a electronic problem. there must be a capacitor/s in the output section that's swollen and will keep giving the same problem unless its replaced.

The treble on the equalizer doesn't seem to be working. The eq seems to have lost something. No depth to the sound. I've recently had it serviced but hasn't helped. Its lost its warm bright feel cheers

I had the same issue with my AS100D. When I first bought it the treble knob on the top channel was very responsive. At 10 is was unbearably "trebley". I was getting plenty of "high" treble set at 2:00, even 1:00. Then after about 6-7 mo, I started to feel it the brightness was leaving the amp. I was now putting my treble knob all the way to 10 and keeping it there, and it still wasn't enough. I had it serviced twice, no solution. Marshall got into the act and after months of going back and forth, they finally replaced the whole amp with a new one. I just got it. The treble was incredibly bright at 10, just like the former unit. But now after just a couple of days, I can already see the treble knob is not as responsive. I can't believe it! Now what?

I run a pod HD 500 into the amp and It breaks up, like there is a blown speaker sometimes.

The Marshall is a super clean acoustic amp.

The POD is overloading the amp.

Try the electric guitar input and keep the gain on the amp down, keep the EQ level and use the POD and the end volume to adjust the final volume.

The normal inputs is for a low output acoustic pickup - the POD is a high output electronic source.

Start with the Marshall gains low and get the clean sound good, then work on the gritty sound.

The amp is voiced for a sweet clean sound - if you want grit'n'ball change to a 50w Marshall valve head and a 4 X 12 cabinet.

I just replaced the fuse with a lesser fuse now the amp just hums. The pots are all on low and it does this with or without a instrument plugged in

This is likely a power supply problem such as a bad filter capacitor. If the fuse blew before, probably one of the rectifiers blew due to a shorted capacitor followed by one or more diodes failing.
Take unit in for repair unless you are adept at electronics.

My problem is that the clean channel doesn't work. The OD1/OD2 channel works just fine but I'm not getting any sound out of the clean channel... any ideas?

Here is the schematic:http://www.ampix.org/albums/userpics/10003/MArshall_MG100DFX.pdf There are a few possibilities. The jack for the footswitch for channel changing JS1 might be faulty. Zener diodes 1 and/or 2 might be faulty. Switch 2 may be defective. TR1 might be defective. IC 4 or 5 might be defective.Start with the channel switching circuitry testing in the order I gave you. Check the actual clean channel circuitry to see if you actually have a clean channel anymore. Before you do any of this make sure you know enough about troubleshooting and have at least a good VOM and are familiar with safety procedures. The filter capacitors in this amp store enough charge to kill you. A cheat to partially discharge them without damaging the amp is to unplug it from the wall while it is hooked up to the speaker cab you are using while it is on at a very low volume with a guitar cord plugged in. Make sure you use exact replacement parts if you tackle this. They don't have to be from Marshall, they just have to be exact electronic equivalents from a quality manufacturer installed correctly. I would recommend that if you have no experience or are at all unsure of the repair to take it to a Marshall dealer to have it done. Please rate me if this helps.

Seems to be a noisy fan on mb4210 combo

Could very well be the fan. The motors can cause interference. There may be a solution to get rid of the noise. Some copper shielding tape may help. You could rule out it being a microphonic preamp tube by turning the amp on as normal and tapping the tubes with something non-conductive. If you hear the tapping noise coming thru the speakers while doing this to a particular tube, replace it. With power tubes, the tops of them turn white on the top when they become microphonic, along with plenty background noise.
