I have just uploaded installation instructions for the CE-100 and CE-200 (or SES-1000 and SES-2000) machines on Vista, Win 7, 8, 8.1 and 10, either 32 or 64 bit. It includes instructions for installing t he add-on software, such as AutoPunch, etc. The instructions are being reviewed and should be available shortly.

I wrote them about 2 years ago, and distributed them to quite a few people. So far, there has been a 100% success rate.

Make sure you downloaded the correct update. Reinstall the original software. Now right click on the program file (.exe) file in the software folder (prob on c:, folder called Futura **). Mine is different than yours...so end of file will be different, so I put ** instead). After you open the file folder...right click on the program file & choose properties; choose Compatibility; Check the run as box (mine is set to winXP 2); and check the run as administrator box.
Try opening the program...if it opens...you can then do the update install.

OK, as you found out, you're probably not going to be able to do that until you have purchased the CE-250 upgrade from Singer, its dealers, or possibly eBay. You might think about joining a dedicated FB group like Singer Futura Fans -- they have the installation instructions in their Files section, along with tons of other helpful information.
Bottom line is, you CAN install your Futura software on you Windows 7 or later computer, but it takes a little info. I know--I've done it.

Singer 250 can not run 86 on 64 platform

There is an update to give an x64 driver for the Singer CE-250 that will let you run on an x64. With the sewing machine not connected to the computer, install the software that came with the machine. Click OK at all of the "cannot run x86 build on a 64-bit OS" messages. When it is done, install the software from http://futura-support.com/products/ce-250/software . (The second one is for XP, Vista, and Win7 versions.) Accept the unverified driver (install anyway). After this completes, then connect the sewing machine to the USB port on the computer.

Similar patches exist for the CE-200.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the version number of your software. I know with Husqvarna Viking's 3D Embroidery, there are versions that can be upgraded to work with x64 and versions that are not patchable.

Have a window7 laptop and cannot download software for futurases2000 so know i hve a embrodiary machine jhat i can't use please help disappionted

Do you have the original disk for the Futura software? Which version of the software do you have? Do you have the 32-bit or the 64-bit version of Windows 7? (To check your version, click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System. If you see x64 at the end of the OS version, then you have the 64-bit version. Otherwise you have the 32-bit version of Windows 7.)

For the Futura SES-2000 version 3 software:
If you have the original CD, then do you have an optical drive in the laptop? If you do not have an optical drive, you should get an external one (USB connection); these can be gotten for ~$50 or less. (Make sure to have the laptop on AC power when installing software.)

You should be able to start the installation of the Futura software from the CD. For details on the 64-bit install: http://www.futura-support.com/files/Futura%2064bit%20Installation.pdf . In the 64-bit install, you will click OK on several error messages. Then download and install the patch from http://futura-support.com/downloads/updates/Ver3_0_0_9.exe .

For older versions of the software, there are a few options, you could upgrade to version 2.5 or you can maintain a computer with an older version of Windows. (See http://www.futura-support.com/downloads/ce150.html and the Service Updates links in the lower left hand corner.) For the older version of Windows, you can keep a second machine with that OS, a dual boot computer with the OS, or a virtual computer with the older version. If you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate or upgrade to one of them, then you can run a virtual copy of XP for free. Download and install in order: Microsoft's Virtual PC and the XP mode software. Then install your Futura software to the XP computer (as if it were regular OS) and connect the sewing machine and transfer the files for your embroidery. There are other virtual computer programs (Parallels and VMWare). However, XP mode is the only way to avoid needing a licensed version of the older Windows OS.

I hope this helps.

YOUR PC RUNS WINDOWS 7 PRO OR ABOVE If you have Windows 7 Professional or Above, the solution torunning any XP software is fairly easy. Go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx.Select your Windows 7 system and language, follow ALL the instructions, andMicrosoft will take you through to running XP mode on your Windows 7 system!Hurray! If you still have a problem with the USB cable being recognized, besure you're plugging it into the BACK of your machine, not through a hub or inone of the front ports. The program for the embroidery machine and the USBcable require more power than either of these allow, a technical point Singerdoesn't seem to be aware of. You should be fine to install the machine'ssoftware and run it from within the XP mode now. YOUR PC RUNS WINDOWS 7 HOME, STARTER OR VISTA Unfortunately, you'll need to have an original of Windows XPfor this, no way getting around it. Hopefully, you still have a copy of itlying around, or have a family member, neighbor or friend who does. Maybe acheap eBay buy? Doesn't matter if it's XP Pro or Home. This solution is quite abit more complicated, but you can get there. I run Windows 7 Home and I usethis solution to successfully run the embroidery software on my Singer FuturaCE-100; the application should be no different for any other machine requiringXP software and unable to run in either Vista or Windows 7, so take courage andcharge forward! You're going to want to download a free and SAFE softwarecalled VmWare Player. The download requires you to register, but there's nocost, it's updated regularly to keep it safe and has been thoroughly checkedout by a lot of geek experts out there. It's available at http://downloads.vmware.com/d/info/desktop_downloads/vmware_player/3_0.Fill in the required information, follow the instructions from the email you'resent, and download the software. Normally, the software will be downloaded tothe "Downloads" folder, unless you tell it to download elsewhere. Before you do anything else, place the Windows XP CD in yourCD drive. Make sure you have the registration number ready. Now go to the"Downloads" folder, double click on the VmWare installation file(Vmware-player-etc, etc) and follow the instructions to install. Once that isinstalled and you've rebooted your PC, double-click the icon on your desktopfor the VmWare Player. It will automatically open up with a Welcome screen.Click on "Create a New Virtual Machine." The next window will automaticallyshow under installer disc "Windows XP (Pro or Home" detected." Just click next.Enter the XP product key and keep entering any required information in theBLANK spots in the following screens. ANY spot filled in LEAVE ALONE. Now leave the PC alone-the process will take about 20minutes. Once it is done, VmWare Playerwill automatically launch the Tools Installer to integrate the virtual XP withyour computer. It may have to download or update the tools, so if you see ayellow banner at the bottom of your window, simply click Update Tools orInstall Tools depending on your situation. The tools will automaticallydownload and install, though you may have to approve a prompt or two. You will be able to click between folders on your Windows7/Vista system and the XP Virtual Machine to copy and paste your designs backand forth. I strongly suggest that whatever AntiVirus software you use on yourWindows 7/Vista you also install on the XP, as it will look for updates on theinternet and will thus be subject to any viruses out there. Make sure you useany firewall, as well, if you use something other than the XP default (you'llknow if you do). Now-close the VmPlayer completely. Don't restart it, closeit. Then reopen it. Do you get a message at the bottom telling you that the USBdevice connections are disabled? We have one more step, then, before installingthe embroidery machine's software. USB DEVICE CONNECTIONS DISABLED OR USB ARBITATION SERVICEFAILS/TERMINATED OR DEVICE ATTACHED TO THE SYSTEM IS NOT FUNCTIONING. Arggggh! One more thing? Okay, this is the really technicalpart. The problem is you have an AMD processor, not an Intel, in your machine.Congratulations on a smart purchase. Click on FILE, EXPORT.Select DESKTOP on the right, name the file REG BACKUP and click SAVE. Now youhave made a full backup of your registry so if anything goes wrong you can goright back into "regedit" and go to FILE, IMPORT and select the file. See?Easy. Now.
