My snowblower won't go into gear when I start it.

If your snow blower is a two stage, you can tilt unit up by handles and carefully rest unit on front auger housing. (Most units you can do this, but be careful, not all do). Then, remove bolts that hold bottom plate on snow blower, and remove bottom plate. If you follow the shift linkage down from handle to where it enters inside the unit, you will soon see how it works. Most types have the gear shifter hooked up to an apparatus that moves a rubber friction disc along a shaft, further towards the center for lower gears and vice versa. My guess is that you need to lubricate the shaft that this rubber disc slides along. Try some white lithium grease and have someone carefully move shifter throughout gear range. Be careful to not get grease on round friction plate below, this is where the rubber friction disc mates up to when drive is engaged(you don't want it slipping). Try this and let me know if you have questions. If you post actual make, model and serial# I can post pics if you like. Good luck and happy wrenching!

Craftsman dual action sander model#875.199770. how do you remove sanding pad to replace with new one?

I used a thin vise grip to hold the spindle and the old rubber pad was easily removed.

Sander disk stops spinning on contact.

It sounds like a gear is worn out inside the sander.
Many of these have a gear or a splined shaft on the end of the motor armature, and the shaft or gear meshes with another to make the disc turn.
One of your gears or shafts has likely worn out.
Sometimes these can be fixed ( I've done a few) , but sometimes the repair parts are either unavailable, or too expensive to make it worthwhile.
Be blessed.

Motor runs, but the belt doesn't turn. Is this an easy fix or is it time to get a new sander?

depending on the model there might be a problem with a rubber belt from the motor to the rear roller or the gears are damaged, if you provide that I can look at a breakdown and try and come up with some numbers for you. Let me know

Black & Decker DS321 - ripped the rubber off the drive roller. Now got it in pieces, all cleaned up, but I dont see how to remove the driver roller from the Drive Shaft and belt guide assembley.

looked at a schematic and the drive roller screws onto the drive shaft, I don't see where is a locknut on the outside but the shaft is threaded, it moght be left hand thread. If there are 2 holes in the gear see if you can find a spanner wrench from a grinder and secure the roller and loosen the gear.

I have a 3x21 inch craftsman belt sander. It's about 12 years old. With the sand paper belt is mounted and tightened and I start to sand something the belt will slip and not sand. I checked the tightening...

The drive and guide rollers are probably drying out and won't grab the paper. Take the drive roller of and treat it with a rubber restoring compund. The roller should not come off easily.

Orbital sander doesnt orbit!

Never start the Sander without first placing it against the surface to be sanded. In free air the Sander will not osolate.

Craftsman Transmission problem

Some of these tractors have a friction wheel that is driven off of a flat wheel on the bottom of the engine drive shaft. The rubber ring on this friction wheel could be worn out, or it could be out of adjustment.

Maybe you can use a linked belt to replace it. Check the width of the old drive belt, and give these folks a call: Lee Valley
