Question about Bahco 425-083 Wood Chisel Set In Wood Box, 6-Piece

Open Question

The wood handle signifies the #425 series Sandvik or Bahco series wood chisels which are near legendary for their use of Swedish cold tempered super hard steel blades. The later production with plastic handles do not live up to the same standards. The older #425 series have been discontinued, but continue to command high prices on eBay and various auction sites.

How do you remove the centrfugal clutch to get to the Starter rope?

It turns off of a small threaded section of the crankshaft, counterclockwise. I would first spray the center with penetrating oil, let soak. I would then use a dull flat blade chisel and place it against the ears of the clutch near the center and give it a few sharp whacks with a hammer. You can substitute a small sturdy piece of wood in place of the chisel. It will be tight, but with a little patience, you can get it to come loose, then just spin it off the shaft.

Fuel pump replacement instructions for a 2003 chevy cavalier

ON this vehicle you have to remove the fuel tank.

On the top of the tank you will see a big white plastic piece. This is the top of the fuel pump/sending unit assy.

remove the lines from the sending unit. unplug connectors from the sending unit.

Now theres a round metal piece thats the lock ring. You need to use something like non-steel rod, wood dowell, sawed broom handle, etc and a hammer.. tap on it in in a counterclock wise direction to remove. Install going clockwise.

Some guys use just a long steel chisel or screwdriver and pound on that. Whit that does get the job done, it created a big risk for sparks and sparks plus half a tank of gas is a very bad combination hence why i reccomend you use something aluminum, brass, or wood to rotate the lock ring.

If your caviler has a plastic lock ring and not a metal one, youll need a super large pair of chanel lock pliers or a chain wrench to rotate it. You can try the chisel and hammer method on this lockring but it usually gets destroyed in the process.

Best of luck and be safe!

Perrin and Rowe, Mayfair Series.- how do you take the perrin and rowe handle apart. The top of the handle has a ceramic disk inserted that says "Hot" or "Cold" and I am not sure whether...

The disk is glued on, but no need to remove. The entire section below the handle spins off, but most likely not by hand (hot did, not cold). I used channel lock pliers and some wood strips that I fabricated to prevent damage to the finish. You then need a thin 17mm wrench to remove the valve. I presume you are having problems turning the cold water handle? Seems common, I am working on it now, looks corroded so I am soaking it in 50/50 vinegar and water.

I have replaced my electric water heater and I have checked everything I can think of and I still run out of hot water in 3 minutes. What on earth is the problem.

3 minutes?? does the water run cold then? or just warm?
Is this what the tank you replaced was doing? If so, then you may have: 1 a recirculating pump instant hot water system thats faulty and allowing cold water backflow into hot water piping. 2 A tempering valve that has stuck, allowing cold water into your hot water system.
Or maybe a broken or missing dip tube in your new heater.
If after 3 minutes the water is coming cold out leave that faucet running and go to heater and feel the hot water outlet pipe from the heater. if that pipe is hot then the heater is not the problem. If the hot pipe from the heater is cold the heater is the problem. (Make sure the cold pipe coming into the heater is connected to the Right side marked "cold" !) If there is a tempering valve by the heater: feel the output from the tempering valve, if it is cold and the pipe from the heater to the tempering valve is hot, then the tempering valve is the problem. If all these are OK somewhere in your plumbing system hot and cold may be connected possibly a faucet or showerhead that is shut off at the spout/head, but hot/cold handles are left turned on then cold water can backflow thru hot pipe.

Bought a Seat Ibiza in November 2009. Just noticed crack in windscreen. It is not a 'chip' like from a stone or other object. It is a fissure, a line crack. Could this have been caused by the extremes of...

It's tempered glass so it can handle the extreme to a point unless you live in the south pole. A crack will always happen if not immediately when a solid object hits the tempered glass. Characteristic of tempered glass is that once it's gone through it's tempering process cannot be cut or gouged for fitment adjustment because it will always crack rendering useless. Unlike untempered glass you can gouge and cut it as many times to fit it in place.

What it means is when ever a tempered glass gets dinged hard enough to gouge it, it will most certainly crack. But for a crack to happen without a gouge because of temperature changes are unlikely because of the tempering process will withstand this changes except subjecting it to a fire above it's flash point.

Fix hardwood flooring replace damaged hardwood flooring wood planks

During the whole process be aware of the edges of the flooring that is going to stay. First prepare the area for dust control. Mark the boards to be replaced. With a flat wood bit in your drill, bore a hole near, but not at both ends of the pieces being replaced. Bore only to the sub-floor. Set your circular saw to cut thru the flooring but barely touch the sub-floor beneath. Make two passes with the saw about 1/2" in from each edge. Lift out the center of the piece being removed. With a sharp chisel split the small end pieces at each saw cut and remove. With a chisel, tap the groove side of the piece toward the middle and remove. There may be a little chisel work to get it out. There will be a bit more chisel work on the tongue side. Chisel the tongue side until the fasteners are located and remove them. Remove the piece completely and remove any paper between the flooring and the sub-floor. Vacuum the area to prepare for the new board. Lay the new piece next to the opening and mark the length. If this is end match, t&g at teh ends cut the ends square. I mark heavily and leave my mark when I cut. It can be cut again if it is too long. Choice here are, cut the bottom of the groove and or the tongue off the new board. I leave the tongue and hook the piece in place. Easier to remove it though. Back cut the length on a table saw, being careful not to reduce the size of the face. This will make the bottom of the board narrower than the face. A sander can be used if no table saw is available. Once sized put glue on the sub-floor and put in the replacement piece. If the tongue was left, it must be tapped sideways to get to the point where it will drop in. Do not hit the wood directly. Used a scrap piece as convincer. When lined up, use a scrap piece of wood to drive the new piece down into place. The new board will be thicker and will need sanding. Congrats.

Installing a deadbolt in a steel door. need to find the best/easiest way to get the plates recessed. using a cold chisel is a huge pain. hopefully thats not the only way. unless i'm doing it wrong.

A really, really, REALLY sharp chisel can be used to pierce the steel door skin enough to form the mortise you need for the bolt plate. Do not use a wood chisel unless you never ever intend to use it on wood again or have the means to completely renew the cutting edge. Cutting the opening for a plate in a metal door jamb is another issue since it is probably too thick to yield to a chisel. If the jamb is 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick you can just drill a hole in it to accept the extended bolt. it will be just as strong as a plate (maybe stronger.)
