Bt com faults

I am on a stupid voip line which isn't working you say there is fault with the line so the engineer came out today. the BT engineer tested the line and told me that my phone line was fine but it was plugged into the back of the router. apparently he called a number and one phone rang in the office and he left. He has now disabled my VoIP system I got cut of when trying to test it and no one has called me back. This is why thousands of customers leave BT! Shocking my business is loosing money and our phone lines have not worked since yesterday. I am furious.

Thank you for sharing that with us.
Try a normal phone plugged into your phone socket just to make sure the problem isn't with your equipment; if it is the line call bt back and ask them to fix it.

best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: BT phone and broadband from

Not a total solution, but a reason , perhaps.

I have both BroadBand and Telephone from BT.

In the past they always billed you with one bill. also if your phone was cut off due to lack off payment so the BB went off also.

they have now split their billing system - and services- into two separate identities, meaning that the phone could be cut off for calls yet your Broadband will still work and vice versa.

So, i would say the problem lies with BT , even though you have ordered your BB from Sky they still have to ask BT to setup your service at the exchange. It seems that they have not checked your service for both BB and phone.

I recently had my phone cut off (BT's 'direct debit 'accident'!) but my BB worked throughout the fortnight it took them to resolve where my paid bill money was!..

So. Call your main service provider (that would be Sky if you get no bills from BT) and tell them your phone service has most certainly NOT been activated.

I recently spent 17 hours over 3 days speaking to 23 customer assistants, before reaching a manager who resolved a similar issue for me at BT.

Under their new setup BB personel cannot see your phone account and phone personel cannot see your BB account - and we get charged over 1/3rd more for this mayhem . their reason explained to me as "having everything on one bill was confusing some customers so you now have two accounts and two bills for everything" !!

your socket is fine as you have enough connection for BB which takes more bandwidth than a voice line.

Basically you have some corporate customer service red tape to hack through.

Good luck

SOURCE: Excessive crackling noise on house phone.

It sounds like you might have a problem with the filter, if you get noise once you plug into the ADSL box. Unless the ADSL box has a filter in it.

The ADSL box cannot be filtered but the phones must be filtered. Try another filter. You should be able to get one from the ADSL provider or buy one in a store or online.

The green white wire is the third pair ow wires. I am guessing that it is on your station wire side and is not in use. Try the filter first.

SOURCE: My phone rings once but cut off. Is this a line

If when you plug into the test socket the line still fails then it is an external fault. BT are responsible for all wiring going back to the exchange from the back of the master socket - the repair should be free.
