Question about Samsung Refrigerators
It has twin cooling. Recently, the cooling fan compressor/motor for the refrigeratror is getting loud. I've taken off the back panel inside the fridge to expose the cooling coil but did not find excessive ice buildup. When the doors are opened (or water dispenser is activated) the motor stops running and the noise goes away. Also, the whining slows and then stops every 15 minutes or so...I assume when the fridge is at the correct temp. I've spun the fan blade and it doesn't appear to hit anything...but the noise keeps returning. From reading other blogs, this appears to be a common issue with Samsung. What part should I replace and is this something I can do myself?
It sound like the fan motor is going bad. They will spin fine when spun by hand but will start to rattle or squeal when running. if it is the model I think you have the entire panel is replaced as a complete unit. This is not hard to replace. It looks like you have already had the panel out. It just has a couple wire to unclip. and clip the new one in.

There are 2 possible problems. One is the defrost cycle is not working properly this is usually indicated by a large amount of frost on the back freezer panel. If so, the circuit will have to be repaired and the evaperator thawed to remove the ice build up. The other is the fresh food damper is not working properly this is behind the "lump" in the back of the fridge compartment above the top shelf, remove the louver panel to see if it is open or closed. closed will be warm open should be cold. The water dispenser reservoir is probably frozen due to poor air circulation.

its a heater cycle problem..the defroster is not working properly. its building up ice in the evaporator that touches the evaporator fan that makes that loud noise but stops when you open a door. it could be either a bad heater, a bad thermo disc or a bad timer.hope i was able to help

SOURCE: loud noise from the freezer side
The problem is a buildup of ice on the plastic housing (the curved plastic bit) in the back of the freezer under the fixed shelf where the icetub goes. The fan behind this plastic housing is hitting the ice when the defrost comes on.
Unplug the fridge, unpack the freezer, remove the four screws in the back, take off the sheetmetal backing and let the fridge thaw. You can remove the plastic piece after a while and get the ice off (be careful not to remove the styrofoam insulation by going too quickly).
Reassemble and you're back in business, for a few months. I'm never buying Samsung again myself.

That sound is usually your icemaker calling for water. you can turn off your icemaker by lifting the little arm on the icemaker. As the icemaker calls for water the valve will be activated and will hum. This sound is usually not very loud. If your valve is making that much noise you may consider replacing the valve. The part number for you water inlet valve is #2315533 The retail price is $60.18 . I do have these on hand and available to ship out today if you need one. Please just let me know. You may also consider replacing your filter if your refrigerator has one. Thanks and I hope this will fixYa
