Your rechargable battery may no longer accept a full charge if it is old.. Get it tested at a garage.
Possibly the battery is OK, but the lawnmower blades are too stiff to turn and the battery soon gives up. Check blades can rotate freely, and have not got entwined grass or string etc wound around the shaft

Testimonial: "The blades can rotate freely, no stuff wounded around the shaft. I can mow my grass after 10 "stop and start". I think that an electronic component is overheating and a protection turnoff the motor. After 2 or 3 minutes of cooling time I can restart it again. Houston we have a problem..."

My trimmer wont start. thought it was battery put a new one in worked for a few minutes and then stopped working

your batteries aren't charging fully, check them fully charged with a volt meter,, fully charged they should have a reading of 18.5 volts, if not they are not charging, and either the batteries have used up their life, or your charger is on its way out

Short battery charge

The B & D MM575 mower is not battery operated nor is it cordless. CMM1200 CMM1936 CMM1836 are the currently available cordless mowers. You can buy a battery from B &D, they list it here:

Homelite 24v cordless mower will not take or hold a charge

The batteries need replacing - this will probably happen every 2 years, maybe 3 if you're lucky. It takes standard sealed lead-acid (SLA) batteries that your local battery store should carry. Be careful not to charge your mower when it gets like this as you will fry the charger like I did.

Batter life in the second season

When batteries are only used seasonally, and they are stored, they can become damaged from weather or from storing them when they are not fully charged. In general, batteries used seasonally will have a shorter lifespan, so it sounds like you likely need a new battery. Check out for a replacement, and be sure to charge it fully before storing.
