SOURCE: Ink Failure on HP photosmart premium C309g printer

Turn off the machine, unplug the power cord from the back of the machine, remove the ink cartridges (lift the lid up at the base of the control panel), wait 2 min, plug the power cord back in, press the on button, wait until the printer prompts that the ink cartridges are missing, then replace the ink cartridges. If this doesn't fix the problem you may have to re-prime the ink lines to clear the error. You can find instructions for this at

SOURCE: My new hp photosmart premium printer says general printer error 0

I had the same issue and I ended up solving it by opening the top door for about 30 seconds to look at the ink and it started initializing the printer... since that's more lucky than good, I also found hp's support page for this error.
Here it is.
Solution one: Reset the product

  1. Without turning off the product, disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the product.
NOTE: The USB cable connects to the port on the back of the product. The port is labeled with the USB icon (c01424575.gif ). Figure 2: Example USB connection (your product might not look exactly the same as this example)c01651067.gif
  2. Remove the cartridges from the product.
  3. Wait for the 'Insert Cartridges ' message to display on the control panel.
  4. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product.
  5. Wait 60 seconds.
  6. Reconnect the power cord. If the product does not automatically turn on, press the Power button (c01602202.gif ).
  7. Reinsert the cartridges, and then close any open doors on the product.
  8. If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.
  9. Reconnect the USB cable to the rear of the product, and then try printing again.
Solution two: Service the product If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product.

If this doesn't work you can get to other hp support by going to, then clicking on 'Support & Troubleshooting' at the bottom right of the page. Next, type in what type of printer you have in the 'Support for your products bar:' and select 'See support and troubleshooting information,' then click '>>.' I went to 'Solve a Problem' to find out what to do with the error message, but you might find some help in the 'Getting Started' section too, which is right next to 'Solve a Problem.'

Hope this helps!

SOURCE: My hp photosmart premium c310a printer does not

Please try these steps: 1. Try a color copy of a document by placing it on the scanner glass and check if it prints well or not (If yes please click on this link and refer to it. Blank pages, if not then go to next step) 2. Take all the cartridges out 3. When you would take them out, then pull the lever to the right of the place where the cartridges fit. 4. Then you would be able to take once more part out, this part is known as printheads. 5. Clean the copper contacts on the back and bottom of these printheads with a clean damp cloth. 6. Then clean the copper contacts of the printer, where these printheads fit. 7. Make sure that your printer is connected to wall jack directly and not to a surge protector before you follow next steps 8. Put all the parts back that we took out. 9. Check if printer starts aligning after putting these parts back. (If yes then move to next step, If not follow these steps to align: - Touch the arrow key when the printer is on the home screen. - Select the Setup option. - Go to Tools in the next menu. - Select Align printer and let the printer align)
10. Then after completing the alignment try to make then copy of the same sheet that you tried before and check if it works or not.
11. If not then call the Hp tech support number and tell them the issue that you're facing.
12. What I believe is that they would replace the printheads for you because your printer is in warranty (Because as far I know you must have bought this printer within last one year and all hp printers have one year factory warranty.)
Important Note: Make sure that you don't tell Hp Technician that you're using the refilled or the third party cartridges even if you are using them)
I hope this would work for you
All the best!!

Printing has intermittent lines not printing

Remove ink cartridge use a Q tip with alcohol on it to clean gold pins on the printer and the gold contact surface on the ink cartridge plates, let all parts air dry completely, replace cartridge. If this does not fix your problem replace the ink cartridge with a new one.

This could be due to the print-head clogging up, or your ink cartridges being low.
First, I would suggest cleaning the printhead.

Setup menu -> Tools -> Clean Cartridges

Then try it once again. If this doesn't work, try cleaning the print head manually, as per this guide.

If the problem persists, buy new cartridges.

My c309a HP photosmart premium says (ink system failure) 0xc19a0036 i have already done every that unit has asked me to do and even the on line help line. But still it's not printing. help

    Have you reset the Machine? If not, follow the instructions;
Remove the cartridges, disconnect the usb, switch off, unplug the power chord, leave it off for few minutes. Again switch it On without the cartridges installed and without usb cable connected to it, press the power button several times while it boots up, and leave it on for few minutes, again shut it down using the power button and install the cartridges, connect the usb cable and restart your printer. This will fix your problem if there isn't internal/system failure/faulty.
    Good luck.
    Thanks for using FixYa.
