Question about Honeywell Programmable Thermostat Heater

1 Answer

We just bought mom's house. Ac worked fine for her. It starts up and then shuts of on us. What's wrong with it?

My husband goes down to the basement and turns the breaker off, then back on and the AC starts running. Sometime thru out the night it shuts off. We set it on 66 and right now it's 74 in here! There's no battery to replace. It worked fine all winter for heat. Any idea what we should do next? Please!?!

Is it tripping the breaker? If it is the compressor could be on the way out. Unless you have the tools you will need an AC rep are man. The heat and AC are two separate functions not related very much. When the compressor starts to go it works harder over heats draws more electricity and trips the breaker.

SPLIT AC CONDENSER TRIPS AFTER 1 OR 2 MINS, ONLY DURING THE DAY TIME

The condensor is not cooling fast enough. Try cleaning the condensor coil. Also check that the fan goes on. At night the outside temperature is cooler and does not need much work to cool down the condensor.

Make sure your fan is coming on, you should hear it come on when you turn on the A/C or defrost. The most common problem for that symptom is the fan relay burns out, and the A/C comes on strong but then overheats quickly making the pressure in the condenser get too high and the pressure cycling switch automatically turns off the A/C. The condenser then cools and the process starts over. If you can locate your radiator fan fuse and relay, which will be in the fuse box under the hood, you can rule out the relay by pulling one of the same size from another system that isn't important like the fog lamps(if equipped). As long as you verify that the fan is NOT working, you would try this relay swap test as long as the fuse is still good. I work for a Ford dealer as a technician, if you brought your vehicle in for service for an A/C or heater concern and your still having problems with it. You can bring it back in for a "recheck" or "repeat" repair and they will have no right to charge you again... If I worked on someones car, and the problem came back after they left, I would seriously want to know because I care about my work and care about my name as a master technician. Just remember, you do not have to pay for repeat repairs... EVER!!
I hope this info helps!~subyguru~

My husband saids run the dehumifier on low setting to take out dampness in the basement? I said no, run the dehumifier on higher setting like 50 or 60 to take more water out of he basement? What should...

Actually, your husband is correct. The settings reflect the amount of humidity you want to remain in the house. I really don't think you want to leave 50 to 60% humidity in the house.

35% removes the greatest amount of humidity.

Hope this helped answer your question and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Dell 2650 DC wont work

make sure the charger you purchased has the correct voltage out and amperage(in millivolts) as requested by the laptop computer, if not you risk the chance of damaging your laptop. although they fit in the power plug, it does not mean theyre compatible. The specs should be located at the bottom of the laptop or inside the battery bay.

How do you shut down

the pilot light always stays on, its designed to allow your heater to turn on by itself without you needing to light a match every time. if the pilot light is burning you have nothing to worry about. its when the pilot light goes out that a small amount of gas leaks into the room. and by small i mean smaller than a hand held lighter... if you still want to shut the entire thing down you could turn off the gas line feeding the heater or possibly the whole house, otherwise the pilot light will stay on. as far as the actual heater turning off, thats probably controlled by some sort of thermostat somewhere. if you set the temp to very cold it should stay off. if that doesn't work then you may need a new thermostat.

We just bought a house that the thermostat had been removed and the wires were just coming out of the wall not labeled. The furnace is a Tempstar gas model 9MPT125L20A serial # LO13778617.As far as we can...

The Red and White wires coming from the furnace are the only ones that call for heat. the Green wire turns on the fan continuously, the yellow is for AC. If you have another wire color, it may be a Common wire and should not be used if your t-Stat has batteries. If no batteries, it goes to the C screw.

Shut off

Start by replacing the power supply fuse. Can be found in the area of the control panel. Use a 15 or 20 amp fuse, most appliance parts stores carry them.If it goes again, then you should have it looked at by a professional.

Whirlpool dryer runs but does not heat

the problem could be the wiring in the house. the dryer not only needs 220v but also a good ground/neutral. this is a common misunderstanding when people test their outlets with a meter. this is happening too frequently to be a problem with the dryer(s)
