I have a question for National sewing machine the black knob on the bottom right has a Groove in it from storing it long-term any replacement suggestions?

That is part of the bobbin winder mechanism. It is the rubber wheel or "tire" that rides on the handwheel when winding a bobbin. If you search the internet, you may be able to find a replacement or check with a sewing repair shop. Don't be afraid to ask a vendor if you don't see what you need.

I need replacement "bobbin winder complete" for the one I broke on my Thompson Mini-Walker PW 201. Does anyone know of a source for it? Also I need a manual for this machine.

If you are unable to replace the bobbin winder for your machine, you might check the local fabric stores for a stand-alone bobbin winder. Last time I checked, they cost around $20-25. They are nice to have because it saves wear and tear on your machine.

The bobbin winder won't wind. Is there any way I can fix it myself?

Most of the sewing machines have a "tire" that rubs against the hand wheel when it spins. Sometimes it needs replaced. You will need to remove the top part of the machine unless it is an older model. You will see the tire that I'm talking about. Slip the old one off and get another one from a repair shop or purchase it at:

Singer sewing machinre 301, bobbin winderon right side is worn so bobbin will not fill

I have never been in love with their bobbin winding system anyway; too often, it winds unevenly, which can cause a great many problems. The best approach would be to sidestep the issue and purchase an inexpensive bobbin winder. Sidewinders cost less that $20 at WalMart; you can order online, and if you pick it up at a local WalMart or FedEx facility like Kinko's, there is no charge for shipping. It does a much better job, and you can regulate the tension--you can't do that with a Singer bobbin winder. I know, I have 5 Singer machines!

Getting the cover off my brother cs 80. all screws have been removed and the cover comes off partially. I seems to be stuck at the turn wheel, like something is holding it fixed.

I had the same problem when opening my machine. The problem is a screw underneath the bobbin winder area. Pull the bobbin base off and then gently pull up the bobbin winder assembly from under the front cover. You will see a screw in the corner to remove so that you can complete the task. I had to purchase a service manual and then I had great success with replacing the bobbin winder "tire" (Bobbin Winder Tire, Babylock, Brother #X55238051 at sewingpartsonline.com - $3.99!!)

Bobbin winder belt melted

Mine stopped working too. Gave up and wound bobbins by hand for a while until I broke down and took the machine apart -- an ordeal to figure out. I found that a pliable ring on the winder was completely disintegrated (gummy plastic-like stuff). An online search found this -- a bobbin "tire" which I THINK is the part I need: http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/bobbin-winder-tire-brother-x55238051.aspx. Hope this helps. --Also cleaned all the lint out when I had the machine opened up. They don't make it EASY!

My machine will not thread any bobbins.

Your bobbin winder has seized. Remove the top cover and oil the area where the bobbin winder shaft goes through the bobbin winder assembly. You might need to force the winder to turn with your fingers for a while, but it will begin to turn smoothly once the oil gets in there.

If the black bobbin winder tire has a flat spot worn into it, you will need a new bobbin winder tire. Costs around a dollar.
