I replaced the igniter and the valve and the problem is the same. The resistance of the igniter out of circuit is 135 ohms. The resistance of the valve out of circuit is 1 ohms. Am i using the correct replacement parts? What should the readings be when cold?

    Hi

i did not have a chance to check the current as yet but here is more information for you to be able to help.

when i first turn the bake on the oven will lite.i allow to heat to 100 degrees and shut down. i turn on bake imeadiatly the igniter glows and after about 1 minute i smell gas but the oven will not lite. The oven will only lite again once i allow to cool before restarting. Is there a reason why i am smelling this gas? This has been the case since i installed the oven in December 08. The broil will remain lit but once you shut it down will not restart untill cool.

My problem is still the same as posted. There must be a solution. Is it possible for the replacement igniter to be faulty. iam using LP gas and the resistance of the igniter when cold is 135 ohms.

Hi
all i can suggest u ve to replace the oven glow bar igniter.

Since there is power getting to the stove, it is likely a bad Maytag gas stove igniter. This is a fairly common problem and repair. Most times when a Gas oven won’t bake, it’s because the gas bake ignitor has gotten weak or it’s just burned out. The ignitor is a small round or rectangular device located near the burner. The ignitor is wired in series with the gas safety valve.
When the ignitor is cold, it has a lot of resistance, meaning it gets most of the electricity in the circuit. As it heats up, its resistance drops. This allows enough electricity to heat the bi-metal strip in the gas safety valve, which then allows gas to be released to the burner assembly. The gas then gets ignited by the glow-bar ignitor. The ignitor glows the whole time the burner is on, keeping the gas safety valve open. The thermostat senses when the desired temperature is reached, and cuts off electricity to the gas safety valve and ignitor.
If this ignitor is weak or burned out, it won’t heat enough to lower its resistance to the point where the bi-metal strip gets enough electricity to heat up and allow the gas safety valve to open, and it will not release gas to the burner assembly. When this happens, you may have to replace either the ignitor or the gas safety valve. Many times it’s the ignitor that is to blame, and cheaper to replace. You can buy a replacement Maytag Gas Ignitor and do the repair yourself if you are savvy enough.

CAUTION: before you start work on any gas range, oven, stove or cooktop, be sure to cut off the electric power supply and close the gas supply valve to shut off the unit’s gas supply.

Hi,

In most of the models, there is a "Flame Safety Circuit".It would be on the D.S.I board.Once replaced, i guess would fix this problem.

You can purchase them from many sites like :-

http://www.appliancepartspros.com

Buy it from the above site as i believe they have 30 days refund option. If unable to fix the issue, they would return the amount.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using "Fixya".

Hi,
you may have a faulty thermostat or clogged burner ports.
follow the steps:-

  1. step 1:Remove the oven door. It may just lift up and off the hinge arms, or you may have to unscrew it from the hinges.
  2. Step2Spread several sheets of newspaper on the bottom pan to absorb soap and water that may spill during cleaning.
  3. Step3Locate the upper burner, attached to the roof of the oven. Remove the burner cover, if there is one. Use a screwdriver or a nut driver and socket, as required.
  4. Step4maytag gas oven model #CWG3600AAB won't restart - 214_a1.jpgClean the burner flame openings, using a scrub brush and warm, soapy water to remove the surface grime, and the end of a paper clip to poke out dirt that has collected in the openings (see illustration). If the surface grime is particularly stubborn, spray with oven cleaner and let it sit for 15 minutes. Then rewash the burner with warm, soapy water, and again clear the flame openings with your paper clip.
  5. Step5Remove the newspaper and lift out the bottom pan. The lower burner will be underneath. Clean the lower burner, following the same procedure described in step 4.
  6. Step6Wipe up any water or dirt that collects under the burner. Let all the parts dry thoroughly, then reassemble the oven.
hope it works

F2 - E0 Shorted keypad (also called touch pad)

1. Check keypad connector for firm connection (keypad connects to control board).
2. Press CANCEL. If error code returns after 60 seconds, replace keypad (also called touch pad or membrane switch). Some models incorporate keypad in to control board as one unit. In this case, replace control board (also called ERC or clock).
Here is that part to order.

Maytag gas oven takes a long time heat and smells of gas.

Important---if you smell gas--I'd be very very careful---could be your control valve or lines to it are malfunctioning or leaking. You might have to call in an expert repair person. How old is the oven? Some preliminary checks you might make are: Do you have a pilot lite or preheaters on the unit? If a pilot lite, make sure it is lit. An unlit pilot lite could sometimes give the smell of gas if malfunctioning. If so, there is is a procedure for lighting the pilot lite--check your user or installation manual. If you have pre-heaters make sure they are lighting up. Normally you have one for the top broiler burner, and one for the bottom oven burner. Check your preheater(s) by selecting either broiler or oven and visually checking to see if they are warming up. After 15 seconds or so, they should be turning bright red. You will see some light coming from them. Check one pre-burner at a time. If they do not come on quickly, shut off the associated valve. Again, be very, very careful with any buildup of gas. It could cause an explosion. At the least it could make you sick.

My Maytag oven works when it wants to when I heat it up it take forever and then sometimes it will stay heated at the temperature I set it at and sometimes it just quits and wont start heating again after...

The number one problem for these ovens is the ignitor. This one is your ignitor according to your model number When it is weak it is intermittent. Sometimes you can get the oven to work if you give it a swift kick. This video explains how it works:
The next likely suspect is your oven sensor. That is the link to your oven sensror according to the model number you posted. Here is a video which shows how to check it:

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

I checked both types of Maytag oven fault codes and they both come up with the same fault.

Sadly this is telling you the Clock assy / ERC has failed.

F5 Supervisory relay enable open (cook mode); sounds alarm and resets the control to non-cook mode Replace electronic range control (ERC

F5 Hardware and watchdog circuits disagree Replace clock assembly (also called the ERC)

The clock assembly is item 1 this link:

Oven takes a long time to preheat

If it's electric ... could be one of:

1. Bake or Broil element has gone bad. The Broil element is cycled on and off during Bake pre-heat, so if it is bad this would slow down pre-heat. Does Broil work OK? (If gas, may be ignitor problem).

2. Temperature sensor problem. Does the oven eventually get to the right temperature?

3. Control board failure. If #1 and #2 are ok ... we see the control board fail and cause these symptoms. If so, we may be able to help you, we repair control boards at

Maytag gas oven cycles every 20 seconds

yes it is normal . but i know your not the first to think its not , todays ovens are so tight , it only takes 10 seconds of heat to keep them at proper temp . it used to be that ovens where kept at a 3 degree sweep that is set at 350 turn on and up to 353 then off ,cool down to 350 and back on . this was a longer time off and a longer time on topday we keep to 1 degree ! 350 on to 351 off to 350 on and so on ....... so short berst of heat make for a more even oven ........ but i know i hate it too ! good luck
