SOURCE: broken shaft 3/8 milwaukee hammer drill mod #5392-1

Yes it does. The collar mechanism and retaining ring come off and under all that is a sleeve with steel ball bearings, what I am saying is it would be better to take to a repair shop. I worked on this tool for years and they are decent to use, but repairing that without proper equiptment is not fun. Let me know your area and I will try and find a repair center for you.

The only things that would cause this are a burnt out trigger switch or the motor brushes are worn out.

I want to repair cable on a milwaukee hammer drill 5392-1

If you mean the cord you can find the part number by going to milwaukeetool.com and you will need the serial number for the correct one. Or you can also go to ereplacementparts.com. You will need to solder the wire ends to push into the swiitch. To release the old cord straighten one leg of a paper clip and insert next to the wire and gently pull out the old cord. UNPLUG tool first and make note of where the wires came from. The Milwaukee site also has a wiring diagram that you can download. Let me know if you need more assistance.

Go to Milwaukeetool.com and look under parts manuals. Type in the model you need and all the electrical/parts drawings will come up. You will need the serial number as well to get the most current drawing.

Could be quite a few things from the switch to the brushes. Milwaukee I believe now has a 5 year warranty on their tools so I would recommend taking back for warranty service. Let me know if not and I would need the model number so I can look at the parts and try to come up with something.
