I can't figure out how to turn it back on after it went off

I can't figure out how to turn the refrigerator back on after it went off by itself. Is there a button in the back? The controls on the front panel are not working.

Did you try unplugging the refrigerator for 30 seconds.
When you plug it back in, the memory resets itself,
Probably the power went off and came back on immediately while you were gone, and the internal memory read it as an unusual command and doesn't know what to do with it, So it does nothing, When the power is taken away for long enough for the memory to reset itself, you should be able to make the adjustments as usual,

I have a very bad smell coming from the back of my refrigerator. The fridge itself is clean and there isn't any turned food inside. I can't figure out what's causing this awful smell.

there is a pan built in under the unit that the water drains into when the defrost timer activates. the heat from the coils usually evaporates this water, but if the coils are filled with dust the air circulation is blocked and the pan will have stale water remain in the pan.the coils should be cleaned and the pan also. this can be done with a little help from an air compressor and paper towels
