Dryer overheats and shuts off

A common problem for the dryer overheating is due to a restricted moisture vent. First check the vent hose and make sure it is not kinked or restricted. Then pull the hose off and check for excessive lint. Pull any lint you find inside the dryer vent opening and in the moisture vent hose. Then verify that you are getting plenty of air flow from the vent exit outside. It is possible that you have excessive vent build-up between the wall to the outsied on the venting system. There is a kit you can buy for cleaning this system. If everything is clear then there could be a problem with the dryer thermostat.

I have a venting question for a new Whirlpool 9550 steam dryer

The vent must remain the same diameter all the way out. Previously installed vents do not often line up well. To get the dryer closest to the wall the bottom method sounds like the best shot. I would build a frame from 2x6s so you can design it exactly to your purpose. A purchased pedestal will still have some limitations.

4 way dryer venting

No its very easy to do, I assume it is an Electric Model.

Buy the kit if you want, it will have instructions!

Most dryers have a circle on the side that just needs to pop out, however its not that easy! it may take a slight tap or two

If your really good, go to your local Hardware store and buy the metal 4 inch flex venting, and do it yourself. Unplug dryer, remove front panel, and create your own vent the direction you want it, Use a really good duct tape, and seal the seams. make sure the vent doesnt touch anything else, :" Heater, wires, etc.

Reassemble and use the venting, I would recommend cleaning the dryer venting at least once a year.
