I have a Sears Kenmore model 106.5002 refrigerator. The ice machine keeps building up blocks of ice. We have melted it with a blow dryer. It works and dispenses ice.

Suggest turning the ice maker off by elevating the shutoff lever arm. If ice continues to build after a few days the solenoid water valve is leaking and needs to be replaced.

If no ice build up it is likely that the fill tube is dirty and water is freezing in the tube disrupting the normal tray fill process.

How do I clean this machine?

you don't give a lot of information.

Outside with detergent and warm water. Stains with something like Comet.

Inside, if you have ice build up, switch the freezer off. Fill a bucket with hot water, and place inside for an hour. The ice build up will come off with a plastic scraper. DON'T use a knife! Wash down with soap and water, switch back on and leave an hour to get to temperature.

Why do I have ice build up in my freezer

Ice build on the freezer box floor or White frost build up on the freezer box back wall (inside). Ice layer on floor means your drain line blocked. White frost layer means your machine is not going into defrost cycle.

How do you stop ice building inside, at the back of fridge model Beko LA87 Larder fridge

It can be 2 things. One is that the thermostat is broken but then it will also freeze your food. The other reason is that it has lost part of its gas charge due to a leak on the system causing the unit not to reach temperature thus not switching of on the thermostat and building ice inside. Normally it is not economically viable to fix the unit.

this ice is coming from the air after you open the door of your ref.the cold air goes down and the hot air enter to your ref. the hot air is highly on humidity that cause of building of an ice. try to fix your door maybe the doorgasket isnot align that has leakage of cold air on your ref . avoid too much door openings. or try to defrost your ref. weekly.

Ice maker is not working

ok one of the first steps is to make sure your getting water inside the ice maker feel with one of your fingers if you can feel ice or water on the inside of the tray if you have ice then you would have to disconect and remove the ice maker fromthe machine and run hot water to clean out the ice build up on the inside then reinstall the ice maker back into the machine and test for 24 hrs to see if you get ice if you dont then you have to replace the icemaker. If you do not have any water going into the icemaker water tray then you would have to check the water valve located in the rear of your machine if the water valve is not bringing water to the icemaker replace the water valve hope this helps

Freezer model EV171NYMS04 we have ice build up on

There is a drain the back of the freezer that is frozen. Your trickle of water comes from the ice that melts off of the refrigeration coils during the defrost cycle. You need to turn off the freezer, then remove the rear cover from the back wall to expose the coils. With a hair dryer, melt all of the ice. You will find a drain under the coils. Melts all of the ice in this drain so water can get out of the freezer. When this drain is clear, you can put everything back together, and your freezer should work normally.

Ice build-up on the inside top of of freezer door

This is a problem that the factory has released a bulletin on.They have released new hinges, and insulation for inside the door. So far I've only seen the bulletin for Kenmore upright freezers made by Frigidaire. Since it is a Kenmore the bulletin is a Sears Service Flash but the units are identical. For sears its SF46-517. They may extend the service to Frigidaire units but you'll have to contact Frigidaire about that.
