Is it the POLICE model RK? Does it come on when you switch to full beam?

The cable will attatch to the back of the speedo, and attatch at the front wheel. You should have a speedo spacer installed on the left side of the rim ( between the tire and the front left fork leg ) . It screws into the spacer. then there is a little locking set screw to hold the cable from unscrewing itself.

Bike Won't Fire

Timing is off. If the timing isn't exactly right it will turn over until the battery goes dead or the starter burns up (which ever comes first). The fuel/air mixture has to be ignited, expelled from the engine,etc. for the bike to run.

2005 roadking wont start.

You didnt mention how you tried to jump it. If it was from a car battery, you could have fried a sensor. If the car you jumped it from was fired up while conneted to your bike, thats the problem right there

Bike won't start

Start by narrowing it down to fire or fuel problem. Pull a sparkplug, ground it to the head, and crank the engine. If there is no spark, then test the plug wires, coil, then ignition module in order down the line until you find where the power stops. If you have spark, then check the petcock to carb for fuel. If there is no fuel from the petcock, then it will be the petcock filter or the petcock is bad. If you do have fuel to the carb, but no to the cylinders, then the carb may need to be cleaned and/or rebuilt. Try these and let me know.

Motorcycle wont start

Check the battery connections, especially if you hear a click just before it goes dead. I know that on my bike, when this happens, the screws that hold the battery cables in place have backed out and not getting a good contact. You would think that with a bad contact that it would stay dead when you turn the key off then back on, but oddly, everything comes back on normally until I hit the starter button. Check the cables.

Your gonna need a voltmeter and a multimeter to trouble shoot this. Invest in a service manual. They have extensive troubleshooting guide

Harley start trouble

Just your average run of the mill bad starter. When you take the plugs out, you relieve all the compression from the cylinders, therefore there is no load on the starter, and it turns it over. Put the plugs back, and you get the compression back, putting a tremendous load on the starter. Replace the starter and you're good.

2004 HD roadking, FI.

had the same issue with an early twin cam that belonged to a buddy. he had this wierd kinda intake thing that looked like the intake with the round flaps that you used to see on a hot rod back in the day. I don't think it did anything but look cool to him.
but anyway it was crazy hard to warm up when cold. if you are starting this bike in an ambient of 40f or less it will take some time to warm up. which I don't understand because the twin cam runs hot like 220 plus. give it extra time to warm up in cold weather. might be nothing wrong with the bike... I mean maybe what your up against isn't a breakdown of the machine but poor engineering (WHO SAID THAT?) anyhoo I've seen it too and everything was tip top far as the HD cronies said

the light should come on when you first turn the ignition on four four sec.then go out and if it comes on again this means you have a trouble code. to get the code you can hold in the speedometer reset button and turn on ignition swicth and use reset button to move curser

Map sensor

Have not worked on an HD but my thoughts and additional guesses would be:
1. fuel contamination (water at bottom of tank);
2. primary pump (in my case it was inside the fuel tank & might not be present in your bike);
3. fuel lines & clamps to & from primary pump or to the carbs;
4. in line filters;
5. vacuum controlled fuel valve (oppose to the usual manual petcock)
6. if it were the MAP sensor, bike wouldn't even run a block away + idling would be rough;
7. by chance are you using a Power Commander?

Also your post "bike will start and run fine for a few blocks then die" indicates that indeed fuel got into the carbs before but not when running meaning the bike used what was inside the bowl and was not replenished.  Alternately, the fuel flow to the carbs might not be sufficient and there is a leak or a blockage somewhere.

As said might not work for your bike but has come across some of the above on numerous occasions.

Good luck and Kind regards.

Ride Safe.
