Question about Canon PIXMA MP780 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Open Question

Can't change image quality on Canon Pixma MP780 when in copy mode

The printer will copy only in 'fine' mode. I have followed all the instructions in the manual but it still refuses to change quality whilst in copy mode. I can easily change the print quality in all other modes. I have no problem using the printer in fax, scan or printer mode.

In answer to the request for clarification it is when using ordinary A4 copier paper in the main paper tray.

Remove ink cartridges and print head. Power down then unplug printer for 30 min. Start back up and re-install head and cartridges. This should bring up the align print head option as we are setting it back to factory defaults. If this does not correct the problem call Canon and if they do not fix it over the phone they should not charge the fee.

SOURCE: Cannot recieve or send faxes

Check out the Easy Setup Instructions available here. If you can neither send nor receive faxes, you may not have the phone line connected to the correct port, see page 34 of the guide. Also check what receive mode the machine is set for. Pages 42 and 43 explain the different options and how to change the receive mode.

SOURCE: PIXMA MP780 will not receive fax with Verizon DSL

Solution: Contact local phone company to check the telephone wall jack for low ring voltage.

Ring-in Voltage Facsimile equipment?(fax machines), like other telephone anwering devices, require ring voltage at a telephone jack to answer automatically.? The ring voltage is one of the services provided by the local phone company.

  • Low ring-in voltage can cause short bursts of ring tones at the phone jack.
  • Callers may hear one or two ring back tones and then ringing will stop and nothing else will be heard.
  • Inside the home, the called party will hear a brief ring and then nothing else will be heard. If the telephone handset is lifted, the caller may be on the other end.
To check if the fax will not answer due to low ring-in voltage, do the following:
  1. Disconnect the fax at the telephone wall jack.

  2. If an answering machine is available, connect it directly to the telephone jack. If an answering machine is not available, connect a telephone to the telephone jack.

  3. Dial the fax line and see if the answering machine answers the call, listen for uncommon ring tones inside the home or check for similar symptoms as described above. If any of the above symptoms occur, please contact your local telephone company.

Print quality poor for mp780. Had s800 which

Hi,

There seems to be a calibration problem. Follow the calibration test from the manual.

If you are using original cartridges, go to canon for repair.

My incoming faxes won't print. both black ink cartridges r full

Is there any message when you try to print the faxes?

If there is an "Image Quality" message, probably the printer is set up to "Copy" in "Photo" or "Fine" mode and it needs to be set to something other than "Fine" or "Photo"

How do I change image quality

I presume you are trying to copy something on your MP780.

In the "Copy" mode, press the "Image" button beside the LCD screen, then use arrow keys to change to another quality, then press"OK" button and the machine should be set to go.

MP780 copy mode/resolution

Mine was stuck on fine photo resolution too and it wouldn't print in normal black. I tried lots of things and the only thing that seemed to work was pushing the photo button and then pushing the copy button again. Good luck.

Canon Pixma Mp780

A Google search produced the following result (among many):

http://support-au.canon.com.au/EN/search?canonsearch=1&lang=EN&category=All-in-One+Printers&series=All-in-One+Printers&model=PIXMA+MP780&menu=Manual

Download the manual and follow the instructions.

I am not familiar with Paint, but there may be a way to "Import" images in the (Paint) Help files.

Good luck.

Can't change image quality

The problem is that only "fine photo pro" is available when the paper selected is photo paper. Change source to the sheet feeder, hit the "Paper" button and then select normal paper. You'll then be able to change the quality to normal.
