Question about LG WM2277H Front Load Washer

LG front loader problem

When I start a load of laundry, the water drains from the top grate into the soap dispenser and when it goes down the tube to fill the washer it gets clogged and the water doesn't flow fast enough. Because of that, it backs up into the soap dispenser and out the front of the machine. I have taken the soap dispenser out and seen the water not flowing quickly down the tube. I don't know how to access that part of the washer to see if something is stuck in it.

If you remove the top cover you will see the soap dispenser unit on the left. It has a large rubber hose connecting it to the drum. If you remove two screws at the front you can free the dispenser for maintenance. You can undo the clips on the various hoses and check that they are clean.

Some people report some dripping from the soap dispenser even when the hose is unblocked. This seems to be a design fault.

Water does not drain from dispenser into tub/drum fast enough

pull out the dispenser, check inside where the dispenser goes into,i found in two washers the white circle piece that's inside the cap to detergent, when water would go in the cap would block the fill tube,if you checked the dispenser and water flows through you have something blocking the fill tube, hopefully the washer and dryer are not stacked, you might have to take the top lid off to get at the fill tube or fill hose to clear it.good luck with your washer

Why is water sitting in soap dispenser pullout drawer?

Water remaining in soap dispenser. In front loading washers made by LG (some Kenmore too), water may remain filled in the soap dispenser after the wash cycle. This may be caused by the siphon tube being contaminated by detergent residue. To clear it, remove the siphon cover from the tube, and clean them thoroughly, making sure that all residue is removed. Replace the cover and make sure it seats properly all the way down. This will ensure that the siphon starts and continues until the dispenser tray is emptied. A small amount of water, a half inch or less, remaining is normal. There is a video on YouTube that suggests buying a new detergent tray. Try cleaning it first. There are no parts that will break or wear out under normal use.

Lots of water pouring out on to the floor from the laundry soap dispenser in my front loader and doesn't say any error and when i start it pours out

Disconnect first the mains, power plug off the wall. You could have a clog in your soap drawer; pull the dispenser drawer completely out. There is a tab that needs to be depressed to release the drawer to remove. Clean the soap drawer with an old tooth brush. The usual block could be old soap, softener, etc. (you could also be using too much soap powder). I usually use just above 125ml (my measure cup says ml, I use front loader powder for the 5.5kg load) The wash is very gud. This is the normal issue that will cause water to leak out of the dispenser housing.
Wash the dispenser drawer thoroughly with warm water. Make sure that you pull off the siphon covers and wash all siphon holes. This process is described in your owner's manual. Next could be one of hoses has become loose, should be re-fixed. Examine by removing top of the front loader; this will give you a gud view of the pipes. If helped, click.

My whirlpool wfs1273bd leaks water from under the detergent draw when the hot water goes into the machine what should I do?

This product has to be my most hated product in the entire house. We have had nothing but issues with this piece of junk. 2 days ago water and foam started pouring out the soap dispenser and across the laundry floor. Not to anyones surprise as this machine has been a dud for 2 years.
So i finally got to looking at this tonight, and was blown away by a) what tiny little thing caused it, and b) the simplicity of it (did it in 1/2 hour) when I thought this was going to be a all night job with 1000 parts across the floor.
How its done:
  1. Remove the power and water pressure from the washer
  2. Remove the 3 screws at the rear of the machine on the top plastic trim (that hold the top of the machine on.
  3. Slide top panel of the machine towards the back, it will become dislodged from the front control panel.
  4. Remove the soap dispenser tray
  5. Undo the 3 screws in the soap dispenser frame, that join the front panel to the water mixing chamber
  6. Undo the two screw on top of the front control panel that are exposed from removing the top panel of the machine
  7. There are two clips, either side of the control panel inside the machine that hold the front panel on. I could undo the one opposite to the soap drawer, but I couldn't get the other, so jiggle the control sideways (left and right) and applied a pulling pressure and it came free. Rest the control panel on top of the drum, I didn't undo any cables, they seem to stretch over the front on top of the machine.
  8. Remove the bottom sump panel - apply a inward pressure on the top of the sides of the panel, and pull outwards. It will hinge away with the hinge on the bottom of the machine.
  9. Undo the screws that attach the entire front panel including door (two on top far sides, and 3 across the bottom.
  10. Pull the entire front panel forwards gently, and the lining between the front panel and drum will stretch out about 2 inches.
  11. Reach in around the front panel and you can see the black tube run down from the soap mixing box, into the main drum.
  12. Gently yank/pull the black tube away from the main drum, it has a rubber flange on the other side that stops it coming out, but it will come through.
  13. See if you can clear the blockage in the tube (if there is), you may need a pair of pliers to remove the black tube from the bottom of the soap box.
  14. Assembly is the reverse, ensure that you get a good seal on the tube back into the drum. I did this by forcing the flange back into the drum, further than it was originally, and slowly and gently pull it back out, until the drum lip pops into the ring on the rubber tube.

Notes: Dont lose the screws in the soap box down the tube, its a absolutely huge job to open the drum. Put a towel ontop of the floor drain in your laundry, its a icky job to retrieve that!
Good luck, and never buy a Whirlpool machine again!8_27_2012_9_31_19_am.jpg8_27_2012_9_32_25_am.jpg8_27_2012_9_33_06_am.jpg8_27_2012_9_33_59_am.jpg8_27_2012_9_34_42_am.jpg8_27_2012_9_36_14_am.jpg8_27_2012_9_36_34_am.jpg

Fabric softener not draining

Remove the dispenser drawer by pushing down on the tab at the center back and pulling drawer out. Now, remove the top of the fabric softener compartment and the parts of the soap dispenser and clean them all out. An old toothbrush often helps. Reassemble and replace. They should siphon out now.

LG WM2277HS - water backing up into soap dispenser

The pipe from the soap dispenser to the tub is quite large, it seems as if the water isn't getting out of the dispenser quick enough. Pull the whole dispenser out of the machine. There is a release clip at the back of the cup with the tray fully open. Clean out all soap residue and scum. Sometimes there is also a spot or setting for liquid or powder detergent. Adjust accordingly. Reassemble and try it again.

We had the same problem- for us it was because we were mixing laundry booster (Oxyclean) with liquid soap in the dispenser. It seems the water running through the tray had insufficient pressure to properly flush the tray out, so residue accumulated on the back & underside of the tray. Our water pressure is good here, and we don't use a water softener or filters that can reduce the pressure. Unfortunately it seems to just be a bad design of the soap dispenser tray.

We also had a problem with water/bleach leaking from our soap dispenser- when we used the bleach compartment in the dispenser we got leaks dripping onto the floor from behind the front cover of the washing machine. It was running down the front of the washer behind the front cover & coming out onto the floor. The repair guy said this was because the dispenser tray was pulled out too far, but the reason we were pulling the soap tray out so far was because the bleach compartment was too far back in the tray to use if we didn't. Now we just leave the drawer partially closed & pour the bleach directly into the soap compartment along with the soap.

Normally you shut off the wall valve when you are thru with your washing. If there is a leak in the front area (important: first take the plug off the wall) open up the top of the machine and check whether the three rubber tubes are in place at the soap dispenser - one of them may have come off. Refit or replace if rubber tube is damaged; would be good to check all the tubes. Another thing would be to check that your soap dispenser is not clogged. :)
