Ssangyong Kyron 2010 handbrake will hold forward motion but not backward roll???

It's not expected to hold a backward roll. No hand brake will . That's why they tell you to turn the wheels into the curb to prevent a roll.Adjust the brake shoes and the cable length adjustment.

Grinding noise when pushing in neutral

Sorry, I was ill. H1N1.
Your Craftsman has a vertical drive-shaft, but the puzzle is that the engine is NOT RUNNING, and there is a "grinding" noise from under (the hood?), (the deck?), (the right side, left, front, or near the back?). I can only surmise that there could be a wheel bearing out, a wire piece that may have gotten wrapped around the drive shaft, wheel spindle, or is dragging under the deck, thus making a sound. If the components are all clean and free of debris, raise the whole tractor if possible, and "roll" the wheels - one at a time. You could prop up the front, doing each end separately. If this doesn't generate a noise, then the ONLY possible solution exists within the engine, OR, the starter. Some tractors don't "freewheel" when rolled around, and the friction from the wheels can roll the engine via the belt-drives, possibly creating a source for your problem.

Mercury outboard 70 hp 1987 when in forward gear the prop turns one way when in neutrel spins both ways when in reverse the prop is locked both ways is my lower unit working property

mercury and others have a "sawtooth" cut for forward gear so the prop will rachet spin backward when dry tested, and a square clutch dog for reverse, which when it finally engages locks the prop in reverse. and will not spin in either direction.

So when you shift--- snap in in gear-- do not ease it in gear, as it will wear the dog out faster.

I hit a stone and now the engine clater

THE MOWER MIGHT BE OUT OF TIME. REPLACE THE BLADE. CHECK THE WOODRUFF KEY INBETWEEN THE PROPELLAR SHAFT. IF ITS BENT REPLACE IT. ALSO CHECK THE TOP END OF THE PROP SHAFT FOR ANY MISS ALIGNMENT. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE ROCK IMPACT MADE SOMETHING LOOSE IN THERE>

Toro mower model 20017, self propelled will not work and wheels will not roll backward. What is the problem?

either a gear wheel has busted inside the plastic wheel hub. Or the drive belt is off it's track and wedged between the disc wheel and the frame. easy to pry off.

Is a 11 8 prop the same as a 12 6 prop

Depends on whether or not the engine your running can handle the extra spin load of a 12/6. Here's a chart of interchangeable props based on engines and their capabilities and not on thrust characteistics. The longer blades cause more centrifugal force and drag, and will result in slower top engine speeds.

They're similar but you have to be up to at least a .70 to run them and you didn't include any engine info.

I have a self propelled Royal Dirt Devil vacuum model number 087900 and it goes backward fine but forward has to be pushed so hard it's impossible. Is this a switch? Do you know about how much the part...

You might try a new belt and/or brush roll. The brush roll is what helps pull a vacuum forward, the power drive helps, but if the brush isn't turning like it should, then it will hinder forward motion. The belt may look ok, but they stretch to the point that under load they won't drive the brush roll.
