It's ok, just use a plastic wand. Be sure to use anti static procedures before and during the vacuuming.
Hope this helps.

you have onboard video and cant install a video card. your mb. has nooooo agp or pci-ex. sounds like you installed your memory upside down and fried your motherboard. toasted it even. please dont be mad at me.

Upgrading RAM will not affect your files. Just make sure you upgrade with compatible RAM & that you install it in pairs. So if you want 2 GB then you would want to be 2 x 1 GB RAM chips. Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.

SOURCE: Dell Dimension 3000
There is an L shaped lever on the back. Press and hold that down and push side panel of case back. It will lift off. When you put it back on just align the slots on the bottom edge and push forward to close it.

As posted by Smithbrother, you can't just put any motherboard in a Dell--the case and motherboard are built for each other. You would be better off buying another computer. A new motherboard means a different processor (like you want). This means a different, higher speed memory.
You can have a system built by a local computer person or browse some of the sites (you can go to Dell for some real deals--as well as other company sites).
Any new system will not have "only pci slots." The new boards will have PCI-E slots for your video, but will also have some PCI slots for expansion.
Cost? That's hard to say. I have to do an estimate for each of my clients depending on just what they want.

Memory Upgrade for Dell Dimension 3000, the Dell Dimension 3000 takes the PC2700/3200 DDR SDRAM DIMMs. Supports Dual Channel DDR. Memory Type, and comes installed with 256 MB (removable) of Memory. You can upgrade your Dell Dimension 3000 to up to a maximum of 2.0 GB Memory, the system has 2 sockets to install Memory, already with 256 MB (removable) standard Memory installed. For best system performance use the maximum amount of allowed Memory per slot for your system.
1GB Module 128x64-400MHz DDR400 PC3200, 184p DIMM, 2.5v, Sync, CL=3.0 does this match the memory you have?
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
