SOURCE: Resetting Toner count onprint settings PRINT SETTINGS report

I don't suggest refilling cartridges as I work on printers every day but seems to me that you have done everything correctly the only thing I think you have done is either filled with incorrect toner thus giving a incorrect reading or when moving gear you have dislodged the pin that activates the reset procedure.

Thanks J

SOURCE: my broher 5250DN keeps showing toner needed, but i've replaced it

I just had the same problem. We have several of these in our office, but switching toner cartridges made no difference. Then I saw this site: http://www.oasis-imaging.com/images/pdf/cart_inst/TN580.pdf

I did steps 14-16, which takes 5-10 minutes. I put the toner back in the printer, turned it on, and it works perfectly now. Give that a try!

SOURCE: empty toner

Some people have had problems with the toner-count not resetting when installing a new cartridge because they did not turn the printer OFF while installing the cartridge. Re-install the cartridge with the printer OFF and see if that helps.

How do I clean the rollers on dell 1720?

First of all dirty rollers are not the cause of your problem as long as the printer is picking up the paper.
Black marks or streaks on a DELL 1700 series printer are usually caused by the drum assembly which, in this model, is separate from the toner cartridge. There is no repair, you need to replace the drum assembly and perform the drum reset procedure. In very rare cases a buildup of residual toner on the fuser can cause marks as well, but I have never seen this on a DELL printer.
To replace the drum:
1. After removing the paper tray, open the front of the printer.
2. Remove the toner cartridge by pushing down on the black release tab and pulling the toner up and out of the printer.
3. Pull the drum assembly straight out of the printer using the blue plastic handle.
4. Carefully unpack the new assembly and install in the printer. Be careful not to touch the photo-sensitive roller underneath.
5. Reinstall the toner cartridge, close the printer and insert the paper tray.
6. Perform the drum reset procedure exactly as follows:

power off and open front door hold down the continue button as you power on printer leaving front door open when error light comes on release continue and close front door. toner low, load paper, ready, and continue will all be lit. press cancel slowly 4 times or until just toner low lights up. each time you press cancel, the light sequence should change when just toner low is lit, press and hold continue button until lights cycle up and down in sequence. release continue.. toner low will be lit again turn printer off, wait 10 secs or so and then back on press continue button to print off settings page and check under cartridge information, photoconductor value is 0K (zero)

Nice job on trying different ways to resolve the problem - turning off/on the printer, removing power source, reseating the cartridges and even changing the cartridge with a genuine Lexmark cartridge. You pretty much did the necessary. Genuine Lexmark cartridges shouldn't cause you that much trouble. I strongly suggest you contact Lexmark technical support to further investigate the problem.

I need to change the cartridge on my HP LaserJet 1020, and I can't find the book detailing how to do it. All I need are the instructions................

Step one: Prepare the print cartridge CAUTION: To prevent damage to the print cartridge, minimize its exposure to direct light. Cover the print cartridge with a sheet of paper.Follow these steps to make sure the new print cartridge is ready to install into the product.
  1. Remove the new print cartridge from the packaging. Gently rock the print cartridge from front to back to distribute the toner evenly. c00382111.gif CAUTION: To prevent damage to the print cartridge, hold the print cartridge at each end.
  2. Pull the tab and remove all the tape from the print cartridge. Put the tab in the print cartridge box to return for recycling. c00382112.gif
Step two: Open the product
  1. Make sure you have turned the product on. Press the Power button if it is not lit.
  2. Open the print cartridge access door, and then wait until the carriage is idle and silent.
  3. Remove the old print cartridge. See the recycling information inside the print cartridge box. c00382110.gif NOTE: If you cannot remove or install the cartridges even though the power is on, check the product control-panel display for error messages. If none appear, turn off the power and then turn it back on.
Step three: Replace the old print cartridge
  1. Insert the new print cartridge in the product. Make sure the print cartridge is in position. c00382113.gif
  2. Close the print cartridge door.
CAUTION: If toner gets on your clothing, wipe it off with a dry cloth and wash the clothing in cold water. Hot water sets toner into the fabric .

Brother HL 2140: Toner ledlight lit, stopped printing. Cleaned Coronary Wire. Toner Cartridge new - 2 weeks old.

Hi Adsl34xg,
The cartridge that comes with the printer (or starter cartridge) has a yield of 1,000 pages @ 5% coverage. It probably really has run out of toner. Replace with a new cartridge to see if you can print. A replacement cartridge should give you 2,500 pages @ 5% coverage.

CC and drum Icon will not go out after changing toner cartridge

This Machine needs a copy cartridge. Replacing the toner will not clear it. The copy cartridge is the drum unit which is why the drum light is on. With the new copy cartridge a chip on the cartridge will reset the counter and clear the "CC" and the drum light. If you cant find this I can send you one. I believe on this model it is user replaceable.

I have a brother HL 2040 laser printer. The toner and drum light were lit, so I replaced both the drum and the toner cartridge, but the toner light remains on. I have tried everything, but the toner...

Two things I could suggest you check. First, make sure you have removed all packing from the drum and toner. Sometimes there is a plastic strip on the toner that has to be removed before installation. Also, make sure you are using a Brother brand toner. Some generic brands do not replace the chip in the cartridge and they will not work,

Replaced Toner and Still Wants it to be replaced

You need to manually reset the CRU counter in the service menu to reset the toner count. This is designed so the xerox tech can come in and get paid for work. What you do is the following:
Enter the service mode by turning the machine off....then hold the (i) button and (<) arrow button simultaniously while turning the machine on. Then go down to nvram access enter menu, then go to CRU menu. Then go to the Toner CRU count menu, then select the toner you wish to reset and allow the machine to reset.
IF you need any parts feel free to come to my store
